An Una site is more mobile friendly than Dolphin will ever be.  80% of social network users, access the sites with a smart phone.  That's a huge factor.

If you have a Dolphin license you're not using, you can transfer it to una and get all the power apps.

Dolphin is a relic of days gone by. It will soon be ditched by Boonex... then what?

 Yes it's a bit annoying, but since when has any Boonex product been free of annoyances?

 80% of social media users, now access those sites with a smart phone... that makes Una the hands down winner over Dolphin.  An una site is fully functional on a smart phone, and you don't really need a mobile app.  Dolphin simply is not capable of working well within a smart phone web browser.

The Boonex team is ceasing development of Dolphin, and will no longer support it. Without a development team behind it at all times, it would be pretty hard to justify building new sites with Dolphin,  I emphasize the word team, because when you invest considerable time and money into developing a site, you need the peace of mind that product support and development is not dependent on any one individual.  The fact that this forum averages 2-3 new posts a week, is very telling... it's telling you to move away from Dolphin.

I was wondering if a Peer to Peer social network would be a viable concept.  The idea being that all of a users content and posts would reside on their own computer, along with a P2P client.  You'd still need a host server, but only to process information requests and to identifying information for each client on the network.   I know people already have frameworks like this, but only for relatively small user bases... but what about for millions of users?

Why, you might ask. 

1. So someone like AWS can't make a site like parler.com disappear overnight.

2. So that storage of mass quantities of data are distributed over millions of locations

3. User data would be very secure on their own computer, instead of being stored in a central location.

4. Easily monetized by charging a modest amount for the client software.

Not that long ago, the answer to the question would be a simple 'No'.  Now that internet connection speeds have increased dramatically, the answer shoul at least be a 'maybe'.

Thoughts?

Will this be upgraded for use with 7.1?

Apparently, this isn't even on the to do list.  Modzzz, if you're not going to update this, just say so.  I'll just chalk it up as another nail in the coffin for two of my Dolphin sites.
