thank u for the great "Add PHP Block to Page Builders" mod deano

once installed and from this mod, does anyone know how i would be able to programatically with php retrieve a banner and display it in this specific php block?  the banners have been created.  i need to be able from here, retrieve randomly a banner so it would appear on the site when rendered.  the key focus is to retrieve random banners that have been created in the administration.

I would use an adserver for that - like OpenX or Google Ad Manager.

what if i wanted to use the Banner section of the Dolphin administration to manage my ads, i don't know what the snippet of code would be, to randomly pull banner ads from there and have it displayed in deano's "Add PHP Block to Page Builders" module.

I am actually kinda glad my personal email address is not publicly listed on this site.

I don't mean to sound like a prick, but i prefer to keep everything i do with boonex on the boonex website. Not to mention i just spent my weekend in the hospital. So i have lost almost 3 full days of valuable time.

Your question is a general PHP question that is not specific to my mod. Others have released php block mods for dolphin as well, and just because one of our names happens to be on it does not mean we have the answer for every possible scenario you can come up with.

At the moment i do not have an answer for you. To get an answer will require that it be researched. That area of dolphin will need to be studied, see how the banners are stored, what functions dolphin has to obtain them and then a solution worked out.

Now anyone with both dolphin and PHP experience can do this. It does not have to be done by the person who's name is on the mod.

In case your unaware. I currently have a product that went down due to facebook changes and i am up to my ears with work right now scrambling to get out a new version.

Also. I don't even use the banner system in boonex. So i have no knowledge of how it works anyway.

Hey Deano - there is a small drip in my garbage disposal - it is in the back of the unit and I can't get to it.  Do you know how to fix this?

Just kidding.  I would go easy on ruroni - I didn't read his post as implying you were responsible at all.- he just gave you a compliment and then asked "does anyone know".  Deano's tools is almost mandatory for running a site - someone would have had to build something like that eventually, but since you did and branded it with your name, you can expect people to refer to it by that name here from time to time.

Sorry to hear about your Facebook mod - that sucks.

Sorry.

It was not the overall post that bothered me. It was the last post seeking my email address for direct contact, Thats the part that hit a nerve.

I don't mind occasional contact for problems with any of my mods themselves, but when its a general PHP questions or assistance with dolphin then i prefer it remain in the forums. This way i can answer questions when i have time rather than looking like i am ignoring emails because i don't have time to respond.

It also allows other people with this knowledge of dolphin and php to answer because quite often i simply do not have an answer.

sorry about the long questions i may be posting in the forums, i'm sort of new to this boonex dolphin, but i heard a lot of great reviews for it.  lots of ppl really like using it!!!

if anyone knows how to randomly grab banners in the "Add PHP Block to Page Builders" with PHP code, it would be a great help!!!  very much appreciate everyone for their time in looking through my forum posts!!!!

I can relate. It's one of the reasons I don't miss selling mods here. Someone would buy a $5 mod and then after they got my email address I would somehow become their personal tech support for everything computer related.

Like you Deano said, I wouldn't mind questions about the mods but the emails would be asking everything from how to install some software I had never heard of to what a certain jumper should be set to on their motherboard. Sometimes they would ask a question and then follow up with several "Are you there?" emails like I should be sitting at my keyboard 24/7 ready to respond.

Ok, I'm done ranting..
