Since we switch to the new Unity website, my member points neither go up or down if people give me the respective negative or positive points. Anyone else get that?

Points are increased in certain places. For example I've rated your post here and your forum points were increased.

How very odd. When I look at my profile it still says Total Score: 71 points and this has been static for a while now. However I do now see that forum and blog posts are being totalled seperately and in a different place now. What is Total Score? Thanks?

After I can't even count how many years I have been here now I really don't get the points. Yeah you have 200, 500, 1000, whatever who really cares. I really don't. It don't make me want to listen to you or the guy with 10 points anymore. All it is about is posting and commenting so what makes anyone super smart by this means? I don't think it matters!

If these so called points that are not good for jack squat are good for anything what is the point and who really cares how many of them you really have? I don't!

Maybe if they could be redeemed for something of value, then they would be slightly more important.

Otherwise the points are pretty much pointless! At least in this site and community.

My point no pun intended is what good is a point system really if you can't do anything with them? It's a total waste, and nobody's profile should matter how many points they have if they can't do anything with them. So like I said it's pointless to have a points system that can't be redeemed for somthing.

No disrespect or anything. I see people talking about points but they can just rack them up for no means really. If they could be truly helpful points and they could actually be redeemed for something, I think you might see even more activity or helpful posts here.

I mean if I could rack up points for helping others that I could redeem for a paid mod for free once I reached X-points...it's a little incentive to help others even more, you see what I am saying.

Otherwise for shits and giggles who cares many will say.

Good point.....pun intended, but my point still holds true that Gameutopia's point about making the point system redeemable is a good point.

What I don't understand is the negative point. If someone says something that is of a negative aspect then they would get no points off anyone but if this point system was redeemable, it would be open mis-use.

My closing point is that a point system where you can give yourself a point is pointless.

Might give myself a point for this post..............but what would be the point of that?

I have seen that my point are raising from 248 tot 260 so it looks to me its working. 

Only what is the point of this system, that a question I can't answer because I don't know  at all.  

I seem to remember member points being a factor in the big license giveaway, so I don't know how anyone can say that you can never redeem points for anything of value.

You have a good point. I remember that too. I did get a free license out of it. If Boonex decide to gift us something on that basis of points in the future then fair enough. However I suspect some sort of points for prizes system would be difficult to manage as it is so open to corruption. If I do help out people then normally it is because people have helped me out in the past. Keeps the whole thing turning.

Yes the points thingo is broken, and yes HL is correct, at one point, members were awarded for having x points. The biggest problem i have with the points gig is that there are the negative monsters that float around here. There was recently discovered that one member had 8 accounts. He would get pissed off at some of us, and roll through here, kicking negs on all posts.

If you are going to vote, there should be a forcible system to where you have to comment. There are reasons to add a neg or pos and that should be stipulated. I disagree with several things that go on here, but i dont neg vote the posts because i dont like what they have to say. this is essentially all a matter of opinion on here. and we know about opinions.
