Back by unpopular demand

Looking back, it's now been a year since I started on the journey with Dolphin. Of the concerns aired in my original blog postings, many seem to have now been addressed and the Boonex site is a much different, and nicer place to the one last year. Support seems to have improved with more of a focus on the forums than the blogs, and the new site seems to be promoting a better community envoironment.

There are a few shortcomings with the way some of the information is displayed here - Search functionality in the marketplace, lack of any categories in favor of tags, broken links... There's still a way to go to perfection, but it's a definite improvement. It's also good to see the same old faces, with the old same concerns, in a melancholy kind of way it feels like I never left. :D

After letting the dust settle a little with D7, I've decided that it's time to look at updating the community site that I run, and see if I can shape D7 into the same user experience that my D6 install currently gives. A while back I decided to commit to developing the site with D6 rather than waiting for D7 to be launched, this turned out to be a wise move as the user-base has started to pick up, and although I may have invested time and money in mods that are now useless, I have had the chance to use D6 in a production environment, which has allowed me to develop a format for the site that I will now carry over to D7.

For me, this will also be part of a shift in the main focus of my business from industrial software to web technologies, with some products and services being offered for various platforms.

DM.
