Dolphin 7 (Hookie). Alpha Build 17. Downloadable
Meet the new Hookie Alpha Build 17 today. The most interesting and important features of this build are the new design and functionality of the Administration panel.
Let's look what changes and features we have overall in this Build.
- New Admin design and functionality. Administration panel with all its modules are rewritten completely.
- Administrator is now a regular user with admin privileges.
- Tags section is added to the main menu, so now you may browse tags.
- Cron jobs system. You can now manage them through the Admin panel.
- Files sharing module is added.
- Store module is added.
- Ajax chat module is added. You can chat with people from the member toolbar while browsing the site.
- New Ajax Shoutbox module is added replacing the old Flash one.
- Polls module is completely rewritten.
- Events module is improved. Browse through each event to see the participants, photos and videos of the venue.
- Forum module is integrated into Events and Store, so every particular event or store can be discussed in it's own area.
Browse Source and Install. Starting from today you are free to download the development version of Dolphin 7 (Hookie) Alpha from public SVN.
BUT, since it turned out that the download from SVN is a little bit complicated for usual users we prepared a separate archive of the latest revision (revision date 12.06.09) from SVN.
Therefore, you can take advantage of this and install it to try out the Administration panel. Before you install it, we have some important recommendations and notes for you:
1) DO NOT INSTALL OR UPGRADE YOUR LIVE SITES WITH THIS VERSION. NO FURTHER IN-BETWEEN UPGRADES OF THIS VERSION WILL BE AVAILABLE.
2) It is a development version. Therefore, there can be errors during the installation process or some modules are completely non-operational, etc.
3) SVN is updated on a regular basis several times a day. So, if there are errors in your installation you may wait and download a newer version some hours later.
4) There is no development and therefore no SVN updates during weekends.
Overall, much to see and touch here and there in this build.

Bug reports are not accepted at the moment. We will accept bug reports when the Beta version is out.

Will this be made available online in a public server so we can all test it?
OR, is there anyone who would let me poke around their install? Preferably one that has RMS enabled? I would truly love to get in and look. No need to tinker right now.

YAY! I getz to play!
Photo Module...am not allowed to change permissions. Keeps coming up with 077 when I try to change to 777.
Plus a few other cmod changes which are not taken care of by install.
Several modules being installed call sql errors (all different) Not sure at this point if it is worth mucking around in the sql. Someone should let us know.
Until this can be fixed, it is not worth testing further.
carnytown.... Some of the folder permissions to install Modules need changing per module, also some Modules do have minor Mysql errors which I managed to fix for my version of MySql. All my modules are now installed.
