all I can say is i like the design of dolphin 6 much better.......photos ...videos and music are all crammed over to the left and what makes a profile exciting is the photos and so on.....not all the comments.....the six layout is nice because you can flip through a good ten photos of the member and you get to see a large photo on the page of the member at all times....the one you choose.......you should have a video player built into the profile page too so you dont have to navagate away from the see more profile to play the videos.......this would make the profile come alive.......it looks dead and boring......i suggest getting rid of the stupid avatar thing........sorry folks but you are making it way to hard to see the photos of the members and watch there videos.......you have to work way to hard to get photos up in your profile and then you can't even zoom in ........your getting way to many features.......wouldn't it be great to see about 10 thumbnails and flip through them with out leaving the page in full view.....and wouln't it be great to see the thumnails (decent size) of the videos and be able to play them right on the page......I think you have to leave the profile about 10 times before you get a jest of the person....
Photos: we're making another adjustment - when someone uploads an avatar it'd be also added to the profile photos, so it would work almost the same way as it did before. THe catch is that avatars is a system module, while "Photos" is optional. SOme sites may want to work without photos at all, but the script will still want avatars here and there.
Flipping through thumbnails on profile home does work - just try to add a few pics to "Profile Photos" album.
As for playing see more video "in place"... need more tinkering...
I agree with Jerismith. D7 is looking nice at first sight but is quickly boring to browse (that I call deficient "HCI" (Human - Computer interaction)) or "Ergonomics").
Avatar is really a bad idea, at least at is working now.
I'd like an option in the Admin Panel - Settings Advanced Settings: "Force Profile Photo Upload" enable / disable
If "Force Profile Photo Upload" is enable:
- replace the Avatar uploader with a mandatory Profile Photo uploader see more in the Join form
- redirection to the Avatar crop tool displaying the Profile Photo ready to be croped...
I noticed more issues reported again then I expected in D7 B3. I think this weekly chain process ( beta1 - fixes - beta2 - fixes ... betaN) might delay things a bit. We all understand the ultimate goal for Boonex is to have a 100% bug-free D7 but from a webmaster's perspective this wait seems never-ending.
Most webmasters are not deploying the beta versions since their's no upgrade path. I think it would be nice to have a 90-95% stable release candidate (RC1) asap that people can deploy and get see more going with their sites and then an upgrade could be supported for all following RCs or Gold versions. Personally, I don't think there would be much changes in the db schema once RC1 is released.
Nah.......I like the new versions coming out.....just think there should be and upgrade path too! : ) my designer is tired of reuploading so know what you mean but we are just holding off and picked a dating software to work with and will use this for our Sacramento community site.........if there had been an update path we would of stuck with it
Well I try to post in forum but get lost in their...sorry...hoping the avatar will be in the admin section when browsing through member admin profiles
Also, the picture viewer should not change sizes depending on the photos...to hard to keep moving mouse to click next button....if you cant agree to make the photo viewer bigger keep it as large as you can and let the photo change sizes in the viewer....
To keep customers happy in the future I am sure you will be creating a "business version" see more for those whose focus is not on the person in the profile.....but in the mean time.....community and dating sites are about the person in the profile and it is nice not to navagate away from the page to learn about them....
glad I am not designing this and you are though!!! : )
to many complaints to hear about all day!!!!! chin up
Can't wait for the video player to load in the profile page though........this along with the other features of the boonex...software wil make Sacramento a much funner place to meet people......can't wait! ; ) hoping the audio player will end up back in the profile too.........maybe they will just have two different versions to suit all needs...
Hey Jerismith, i agree with you as per watching videos right there on a person's profile page. you still can make it happen, here's how: if you have the myspace mod installed in your site which lets you post html codes, all you have to do is upload your videos at youtube and simply embed your youtube channel's code in your profile. that way, when some one comes to your profile, they can watch your videos right there without leaving your profile. you can check out my site and my profile to see what see more i'm talking about. Hope this helps. FriendsWeCan.Com [http://www.friendswecan.com]
K...my sites r datingoncam.com but having to build that in other software and hating it because I wanted dolphin..... i also have www.saccam.com for a sacramento community in dolphin waiting for 7 to see if I want 6 checking out your site now.
any help I would appreciate.
Thanks
