Web Compatibility

Small web template: 3-6 inches such as EVO 4G, iPhone/iPod Touch, Nexus One and the like.

Example: mobile.php

Medium web template: 7-10 inches such as Galaxy Tab, iPad, Slate, netbooks and the like.

Example: tablet.php

And, obviously...

Large web template: 11 inches and up.

Example: index.php

Ideally...

  • Detect resolution/device to redirect.
  • Add two smart template designs specifically for mobile.php and tablet.php.
  • Some rebrand iPhone apps may not get approved, so this is an alternative. Mobile Safari still unable to do any file download/upload directly to/from iOS devices to date. Solution is to upload to Flickr or YouTube through the app, then copy & paste url in photo or video!
  • HTML5 by default. Non-HTML5 browsers automatically switch to Flash.

Update this for upcoming in 7.1, 7.2, 7.X? Or planned for next build D8?

Sounds like what Ease is doing with his Mobile Module. My site uses it and it helps but I would like what you are talking about. All you would really need is to modify the .htacess file and there should be a code that detects the device which in return will choose the right resolution or *.php you direct it to, for the device.

My problem is that I'm still learning.. so maybe someone with a lil more experience would like to trump me and create this?

This is a little challenging if you consider complexity of some Dolphin modules. Still, we plan to attempt building a mobile version for 7.1, and if it proves to bee too much, it may be relayed to 7.2. Anyway, we do realize that it has to happen, eventually.

I had a feeling this was already in the works. It seems like the Boonex team is always right on track with things as usual.
