Request of becoming moderator..what do you think?

Wou this was the hardest thing in my life. Many positive comments as well as some others not sooo good. But Andrew has taken the final decision and I am now a moderator, even if I decided to give up with this idea at a certain point. All what I can say is THANK YOU SO MUCH, and I hope I will be able to do a good job for this wonderful community. Thanks everybody, both for positive and negative votes. Everything is important to learn. Thank you so much again.

END.

What a strange dream - I think you need to set your sites a little higher. Honestly, this post makes me a little suspicious - why do you want to be a moderator - you never told us? So you can delete peoples posts? So you can help people? You can help people without being a moderator, of course. That is the only thing most people want here - good technical support. I haven't noticed you giving people help all that often on the forums - but I could be wrong. I just don't get what all this fascination see more here with being a moderator.
YobiLab
Why would you want to get a Cup if you win a marathon? This is the very same thing. I have been working here a lot. I started from 0 and I helped many customer and I released many mods for free in the past. I have been in the forum giving advises and codes for free to many people. I do not need to become a moderator to attract more customers. Trust me I do not really need that. I already have enough work, maybe too much, much more than you can even image =) So I am totally fine for that. I just see more want my little prize. I just want to be marked as moderator for the work I made in the past and for the work I do now. Yes as I said this is not a very big dream, sure. But it is a gratification, something that would make me happy, and that would totally reward the work I am doing here. Just this. I do not see anything bad in this little request. Thanks anyway for your interest in this.
Dwain
Yobi, you have my vote if you really want to be a moderator, but I can tell you that moderators don't have the tools or power the others think we do.

I hope you have a thick skin and a calm demeanor because as you can tell right out of the box, just like you have a dream to help, there are a few others here whose goal in life is to whine, cry , complain, accuse and cast dispersion.

Good luck to you. Every one should have a dream and not let any rainy-day pessimist stand in the way.
YobiLab
Thank you so much. Do not worry Dwain. I faced in the past many people with such attitude and I have always found the right way to calm the things down. Thank you very much for your advises, I will keep that in mind. Thanks again!

-1 !!! YobiLab is GREAT! They deserve it!
tboulley
I think it a great idea!

You have my vote!!

Why would anyone wish to become a moderator some are asking? Most likely for the same strange reason some wish to become a vet., because they love animals, or why become a fire fighter, maybe because you love saving lives.

It seems to me that your goals fit your current career, making a living by developing mods for Dolphin and from providing technical support. Nothing wrong with wishing to get more in touch with your work, and possibly closer see more to your clients.

I don't remember YobiLabs asking for anyone who has an issue with them to post it here, I am pretty sure they asked to place your votes for them here.

Why is it that when anyone in this world wishes to extend their help to others most people try to read something into it that isn't there; like they think there is an evil hidden agenda behind every whisper of a good deed!

Now that is something to make one suspicious ;-)

As the old saying goes........if you don't have anything good to say......don't say anything at all........because no one here really wants to hear your negativity. Really.
YobiLab
You really are the MAN! Thanks for this wonderful reply! You make me pride! Really!

Great attitude towards others especially with helping them, goes out their way to help and overall just very friendly! English is very good - 9 out of 10 - which also helps (especially when your English like us!). If a moderators what you want to be then im in it to help you! Couldn't think of anyone else to offer it to!

YobiLab would be a great moderator! He has shown us that he is not here just to collect your money.... unlike most of the developers that do business here. Both private and public communication with him has been a great help to me and I believe he truly wants to help out and make this a better and place.

YobiLab, you have my vote!!

YOU HAVE MY VOTE!! YOU ARE THE BEST HERE!
YobiLab
You are my best supporter, as always. Thanks

I don't feel any new applications should be considered at this time. In total, there are sixteen moderators, and only the three active ones are required to properly police this site. I would rather not have the number of moderators increased unless there was an actual need for it.
silverado350
Well what good are the other thirteen moderators if they just sit on their asses and do nothing? Give the moderator status to someone that cares and can actually help people.
Nathan Paton
I am saying that even though we already have sixteen moderators, only two or three are required to efficiently police this site. I should also mention that some of the other moderators are accounts which belong to BoonEx employees, making their powers more of a status than anything. The rest are moderators because they are in charge of a language forum.
Dwain
No moderator is "required" to do anything or compensated in any manner. Just because only a few are vocal doesn't mean the others aren't quietly observing the site. No certain moderators are around all the time, but there are strength in numbers and having a large number pretty much assures some one is always around, even if they choose to go unnoticed.
yourartnet
16??? Where? I see 1 or 2 really doing something!
Nathan Paton
It's true that only two (maybe three) are actively policing the site, and that is all this site needs in terms of authority. It's true that this is a large community, but it's mostly well-behaved, at least to the point where we don't need a large team to police it.
yourartnet
So remove the unuseful moderators and give this option to YobiLab, that really deserve it. We need pro people, with high knowledge in Dolphin.
Andrew Boon
I agree, but I am starting to think that maybe since we may ave more moderators we could let Starters post again... Also we'd surely have more moderation work and tools with D8 at BoonEx.com, then it may come handy. What do you think?
Nathan Paton
If you're suggesting opening the floodgates, I'm all for the adding of more moderators (if needed).

I would recommend there be some sort of probation period, though, and that they learn the ropes from an established moderator. I've been educating the moderators that came on from the language forums, and I'd have no problem doing it again.
YobiLab
I am ready for the lessons! I totally trust your work in being a moderator here.
waxenz
well, i ve been working with yobilab and i must admit is one of the best sellers for me here.
You definitely have my vote.

YES..You got my vote!!!
YobiLab
This is the vote I was waiting for. Ninos you are not only a good customer but also a trusted and good friend. If you think he is not, you are going to face me if you dare!!! =))))
Andrew Boon
Looks good so far. Let us follow the comments a bit more and decide on Monday. We may need more moderation power after update to D8 here.
YobiLab
Yes I agree to wait until monday. Not a problem for me. I would be really happy to be a moderator when D8 is out. I am expecting great things and a new amount of customers here in Boonex. Also we are collaborating with some italians to create a free blog in Italy for Dolphin. As you may know Dolphin is not very well known in this side of the world, so we really want to make Dolphin known in Italy too. We are 60 million of people in Italy and here only few italian people are actively using Dolphin. see more So we are moving with this too. And since I am a SEO I really think we can do a great job and make Dolphin better known in Italy. Here is where we are discussing for the creation of this blog. You will not understand a word I think, but just to let you know =) http://www.boonex.com/forums/#topic/Utenti-ITALIANI-Cercasi-per-Traduzione-Dolphin-.htm

You have my vote!!!
You helped me in the past solving this issue with removing some blocks and I appreciate it.
Good luck and keep up the good work and the quality for us all.
Cheers.
Zarcon
Not that I agree or disagree, however I recall that you had to be more presentable in your request as a moderator. I not only had to provide a summarized resume (somewhat), but I also had to say 'why' I wanted to be a moderator. I have yet to see that here. You are trying to sell yourself to BoonEx here! You Should be explaining 'Why' you would make a good moderator, other than the fact you dreamed it.

Another thing that has me worried is the fact that you make profit here in the Market. Yes, see more I know I have a couple of things, but all of my little stuff is free. We have had issues where 'Conflicts of Interest' caused others to lose their status'.

In the end, Boonex chooses who gets moderator status. And I support their decision.
DosDawg
i have but one thing to bring front and center, as it appears to have fallen by the wayside.

Joosocial, i think the followers and those who you have assisted here lately have no concept of who you really are, and what your purpose is here.

Andrew, seriously? i guess we can get our faithful brother KMD to come on back and apply for moderation status as well?
YobiLab
KMD?? Ahaha..Come on Dos!! You are comparing me with KMD? You are not doing a very good impression here. Stop to be suspicious. Be sunny sometimes and look my last answer below. Bye Bye =)
Nathan Paton
I admit, I didn't think about some of these concerns. I agree that moderators need to be selected carefully (or else people like me get on the roster), and the idea that there may be a conflict of interest should seriously be considered.

I don't know why YobiLab (also JooSocial) suddenly has the desire to become a moderator. He's never mentioned it before, and is now trying to claim it's his life-long dream. I find that far-fetched.

I don't think market reputation should be everything, and see more that's what everyone is going on.

I made the required number of people to police this site as my primary reason, and that remains so. I am starting to wonder more about his application specifically, and whether anything should be looked into before making a decision.

I think a probation period will be important, and would also ensure that all actions are within the rules and do not serve any self-interest. This includes the removing of negative comments and posts by competitors.

Edit: I'm actually starting to think this post serves more as an advertisement for his services than a serious application.
YobiLab
Hey you suspicious moderator, I have just replied below. =)
YobiLab
Nathan I have just edited my Note as @Zarcon advised. Yobi
YobiLab
I explained the reasons in the following answer. Be SUNNY =)
lworld
Hi YobiLab

NO as this seems like business promotion if ever I heard one. When someone has a reason and says NO you have a come back that feels like you believe you can talk yourself into this position.. I know KMD and realized I knew him from another opensource software project, so I know what DosDawg is talking about and I reported him for being a scam artist.

All I here is I I I I I I I, or I I I I I or I helped for free when I can.Big deal you helped someone for free and so you should.

Bottom see more line choose you sell in the Market place or Apply to be a Moderator you cannot even consider to ask anyone to vote for you when you have a vested interest in a monetary market here. The fact that you don't understand that shows how I I I I I U R

Don't do the I explained this reason here to me, I don't care how much explaining you do, this is not a wit of who is the smoothest talker. The more I read of you trying to convince us the more I wonder why you feel you need to convince us?? You convince me to say NO

Jennifer
YobiLab
lworld I was just going to add a new post to this Note when you replied. Give me some minutes and you will see. I am sorry but you will be disappointed, because also you are wrong in this case. Give me some more minutes to complete what I am writing and then you will see how wrong you are. Regards.
YobiLab
I edited my post for the very final time.....I hope that makes you understand. See you.
lworld
I understand perfectly editing your post makes no difference.
YobiLab
Propably you have not even read it since I just posted it and it is very long. So before saying things with no mean, please read and then reply. Thank you.
YobiLab
Well if you read it and if you still think what you were thinking before, I do not really what to do? Maybe a suicide? I have gave up the idea of becoming a moderator. I have written all what was possible to write. Listen, if I were here to make some good impressions, I would not have written what I have, I would not be here replying to your comments, I would not giving any importance to the bad votes, since as you may see, I have many others that are positive. I do not want to go on anymore with see more this discussion. I just wanted to make my position very clear here. Now you can think whatever you want about me. But really, I cannot see a way how you would think I am here doing business. After that long post I have written, this comment is not also making me sad, but is also making me think there are some people here just wanting to blame the others. I am ok with myself. So think what you want, you are totally free to do that. But sometimes listening to what the others have to say could be a good thing....Diego
lworld
"Maybe a suicide?" Not a word used freely on forums.......

Democracy does not apply to a forum that I am aware of.

"I know pretty everyone here. I know every account and the attitude of any person here. I know who has duplicate accounts, I know who is using false informations, I know the right and the wrong customers here. "

How do you know all this?
What is a right or wrong customer?
YobiLab
EDITED: I had replied to your previous comment, that was looking much different. Lokked like you were advising me to have a suicide =). Right and Wrong customer? Simple: Right customer: He gets the mod, installs it properly on the site, has a license, asks for help in the right places. Wrong customer: He comes, takes your module in another place ( I remember sharemafia was full of my modules in the past) and the also adds a bad review on your profile. This is the difference.
How do I know all of see more this? I am here from version N 6 as I stated in a long forum some times ago and as Dos has remembered. My company was Joosocial before and then became YobiLab, because Joo failed. So after all these years I think I know many people. Anyway that was just to give a better look for what I am able to do. But now it does not matter anymore.
lworld
Not at all I just quoted what you said. "Maybe a suicide?"
YobiLab
Yes I know you propably clicked on "reply" for error and I have seen only "Maybe a suicide?" ahahah..I thought you were advising me to have a suicide and I was getting a bit angry with you, you know, but then refreshing the page I have seen the rest of the message and I have edited my reply.
Stuart038
YodiLab, congratulations on becoming a moderator!!
YobiLab
Oh and sorry for the word "suicide". That is an ironic way we use in Italy when we do not have any other possible solution. But that is only a joke, it is a way to say "What else on the earth I can do?"..Thanks for letting me know that is not acceptable. I will avoid to use that the next time in an english based forum where I can get misunderstood =).
