Ray 3.0 Installation Manual (adjusted for Dolphin)

This page will guide you through the Ray 3.0rc (Release Candidate) widgets installation. This Ray version is already pre-installed in a special package of Dolphin, which you can download here.

We assume your server meets Ray technical requirements. You also have to download and install RMS and "Dolphin 5.6 or 6.0b2.05 and Ray 3.0" script before Ray widgets installation. Download RMS for UNIX OS or RMS for Windows.

Ray Base Installation

Let me remind you that you have to install Dolphin Combo package which comes with Ray 3.0. If you have done this then:

  • log into Dolphin Admin Panel;
  • click "Manage Ray" and then click "OK" to register the Ray Base;
  • the "Ray Global Register" window will open where you'll have to input the following license key: "ln_base"; then click "Register" and "Close" on the next screen;
  • if you're going to use RMS, you will have to indicate your Ray Media Server's IP address: click "Base Settings" at the top of the "Admin" window; indicate the IP address in "RMS IP" field of the "Ray Base Settings" window; click "Save" and "OK" to save the settings;

Ray Widgets Installation

  • click the plus sign next to the widget you wish to install; you should see that the status of the widget is "Not Installed"; then click "Install";
  • the "Permissions" window will show up with a list of files and folders which permissions need to be changed; to see the necessary permissions, click the question mark next to each file or folder; if the current permissions don't correspond to the necessary ones, you have to set them using your FTP or SSH client; once you're done, close the "Permissions" window and click "Install" again; you should see the correct permissions now; click "Next" to proceed;
  • the "Attention" window will show up; it will tell you which necessary edition you have to make to integrate the widget into a script other than Dolphin (just skip this point); you will also be asked to delete the widget's installation folder, which is "modules/widget_name/install", where "widget_name" stands for "chat", "im", "video", "desktop", "mp3" or "presence"; you will also be advised to change the Settings for the widget you're installing; click "Finish" to complete the widget's installation;
  • now you have to register your widget; click "Register" if the status of the widget is "Not Registered"; input the following licenses (which you should have got after purchase) for each widget: for Chat, for Instant Messenger, for Web Recorder, for Desktop Presence, for MP3 Player and for Presence;
  • if you're going to use RMS, you will have to change the following settings for "Chat", "Instant Messenger" and "Web Recorder": click "Settings" and check "Ray Pro" at the bottom of the "Settings" window; click "Save" and "OK" to save the settings; close the "Settings" window;
  • your widgets are installed

NOTE: You should go with all the same points above to install each widget separately.

Creating the installer for Ray Desktop

Download Ray Desktop to your Windows PC and run it.

  • You will see the Ray Desktop: License Agreement, read it carefully. To proceed with installation you should accept its terms and click Next >.
  • Specify the directory where you want to install Ray Desktop and click Install >.
  • After installation is completed click Next >. Here you have to enter the Version and Build of your Ray Desktop, the URL of the ray folder on your site and the Caption of the Desktop Agent that will be downloadable from your site.
    • Example: Version 3.0, Build 0000, URL http://www.your_domain.com/path_to_ray, Caption: My Community. Then click Save.
  • The Desktop Admin part is successfully installed. Now navigate to Start -> Programs -> Ray Desktop -> Create downloadable. A new file will be created and accessible by this path: C:\Program Files\Ray Desktop\out\Agent_v3.0.0000.exe.
    • Note: There's a handy way to access this file: Start -> Programs -> Ray Desktop -> Open directory.
  • Upload this file to http://www.your_domain.com/path_to_ray/modules/desktop/app/ folder.
  • Now you have to specify the link to this application in your Web Presence Settings: Admin Panel -> Plugins -> Ray Suite -> Web Presence -> Settings -> Desktop URL. This URL should look like this: http://www.your_domain.com/path_to_ray/modules/desktop/app/Agent_v3.0.0000.exe.
  • Check the link to Ray Desktop Installer in the Web Presence window.
