IP check for posts

Hi everybody,

Today was the first time in my 66 days here that I engaged in a useless yet somehow unavoidable thread of stupid post caused by the selfishness of Unity members that are here just to interfere with the real goal of this site and Boonex´s software.

So my question is if it´s possible to record the ip addresses of every post/user so that the admins can tell when the same user is posting through different identities/accounts.

This way, it´ll be quite easy to kick all this worthless users out of here and ban not only their accounts but also their IP addresses.

Regards to all (but a few...!!)

Hernán

I'd like to know how a blog post can get 6 negative votes with only one voter.

yes i totally agree, on all my forums i can check the IP of any member, its very useful for giving the IP the once over in Google checking for known spammers. so yes it would be a great idea, stop some people right in their tracks.
LOL@ lightwolf, so youve noticed too have you that a certain member defo has more than one account try several (mind you, its one way to get friends when you have non i suppose) LOL...

regards

guys, you all know we have been round and round with this, and the anonymous voting process. if thats the way some get their kicks, essentially the votes dont mean anything, its not like you are going to get a T-Bone for the most votes on a blog post. if that was the case, i would be here writing every minute of the day, and trying to get me some BEEF hello.

ip tracking, and anonymous voting stopped and this type of thing wouldnt happen.

hernan, i answered your question in private, just so there wouldnt be any turmoil, i never anticipated trouble getting started over it.

Regards,
DosDawg

I know admins can track the voting, and I believe they also log the IP's.. but they don't have time for monkey business.. just stop posting what you already know that attracts the monkeys.. and everything will be ok..

While i agree in part with DosDawg's comments, the votes dont mean anything, there's no prizes for the most votes. But, dont you think its the principle of the thing that counts here, and the unfairness if you like that any member can cause bad feeling by having multiple accounts and when they feel like it tip the balance, or give a false impression and cause suspicion on the site. an example of this is yesterday when a certain member was playing up as usual and he became very aggressive and causing bad feeling on the blogs causing one member to go as far as to say that Boonex is running a scam, even to making his own broadcast site to tell people that boonex is a scam. Now i dont like this sort of thing since the site cooled down and became more pleasant to be here so i stepped in to counter act this flaming and so on. Now all of a sudden after months of just sitting there, in the space of an hour or something, my site advertisement has clocked up 7 negative votes, and it doesnt take sherlock to see who's fake accounts paid me a visit. Its the same with my moderation proposal. I for one dont think thats funny, its a form of bullying, "mess with me and im going to bang you with negative votes". Now im big enough (dont care to be honest) about the negative votes but not everybody is like me, but i still think there is a principle at stake here. there is nothing wrong with the voting system, its good to have, but abuse of it should be stopped and the haters who use it as a weapon.

I hope mastermindsro is correct over the admins being able to check IP already, but i hope he is wrong about they dont have time to check on those that do this, this lack of vigilance is what caused the site to lose its way to start with and some members believing they can get away with anything on here. saying that though, there is only one or two that stick out now with the old attitude, so i guess they are much easier to stop.

Hopefully.

Regards

Tyke
