Ownership of a file

Hi, My uploaded images are being stored in ...\public_html\media\images\profile\ and they are appearing correctly on the website, but they are being stored with the owner listed as "nobody" which means that I cannot move, edit, or delete them. Also when the user loading music or video files are uploaded with owner 99. I wrote to HFW and say that "The only permanent solution for this issue is to upgrade to VPS server where you could have suPHP installed" "This happens whenever the web server writes new files to these directories. It's a consequence of mod_php without suPHP" Do you know if this issue is natural for all customers, is this issue for all customer dolphin? Running Dolphin 6.1.2

I've never had a problem with the particular folder/directory in particular you mention with a linux apache php or cgi php setup. If this is the case contact your host and have them reset the folder. It's your hosting account they will have no problem with that and it's a relatively simple task for them.

Before you do, you might look around a few other folders/directories and make sure you don't have a few other nobody's or 99's that you might want to tell them about too.

Hi, I had that problem when using HostForWeb - they did it all the time and I had to go on their live help and keep asking them to reset the permissions. They say when more than one person access the site from different ips they lock the account. Very annoying. I switched to another host after the 3rd time they did it. Talk to your host.

This is one of the many reasons NOT to go with HFW... when you have php running as a module then any file or directory that is created by a script can NOT be changed through FTP because the "owner" is "99". Please believe me that this is only an issue with HFW, all other hosts have php running as suPHP on their shared hosting accounts so you have total control regardless of how the file/dir is created.
