Paste Flash Movie .swf info

I used a software which created this code -

<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"
codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,0,0"
width="960" height="274">
<param name="movie" value="960X274STARS.swf">
<param name="menu" value="false">
<param name="quality" value="high">
<param name="wmode" value="opaque">
<param name="scale" value="noscale">
<embed src="960X274STARS.swf" menu="false" quality="high" wmode="opaque"
 scale="noscale" width=960 height=274 type="application/x-shockwave-flash"
pluginspace="http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash">
</embed>
</object>

I got a tip in the forum to paste the code in index.php, but there's a lot of index.php. Anyone who has a fast and correct sollution?

You need to post the question in the forums, not the blogs. The blogs are not for support questions.

Saw your blog...thought I would respond here. I also tried to use a SWF in Dolphin with no success...what works with a regular html site...seems to have issues with Dolphin.

It is totally possible to put a swf where you want to do it.

I tried to help Birdtribes on this topic, but after sending him long emails explaining to him my way of doing it (which is the way recommended by Adobe), he chose to use the 'iframe' html tag to accomplish the task. While I'm sure it works, it is problematic.

To see his solution, search 'birdtribes' and flash in the forums.

But I think that the 'object' tag is better than the 'iframe' tag for several reasons, so Campethomedia, you should stick with your code (in my opinion).

Did you try hitting the little 'html' button when in admin >basic settings >custom HTML block? A dialogue box should open up that lets you enter the code you've generated.

A side note: I'd set the wmode parameter to 'transparent'. If the .png of the submenu is going to overlap your .swf, that is.

Hey Ted,

I will take a look at Birdtribes Solution as I could not get SWF to "load"...and I did paste it into the html box via tinymce.

When last attempted, I was using V6.1.1, now I am V6.1.4. So perhaps it will show a different result.

In previous versions of dolphin some of the code would get stripped automatically as to sort of prevent certain code from being added by a member. I know you can add more than what you used but I haven't tried a flash related embed code in a while to see if it strip some of the code or not. The sollution used to be to just manually insert it into the database, or to make tiny_mce not strip the code you were wanting to post. But in newer dolphin 6.1x it seems less code is stripped.

Your post doesn't specifically say where you are trying to post this, such as in a blog, forum, profile page, or into something like where the original flash promo would be or other.

You obviously have to have your flash file uploaded to your site somewhere. Doesn't really matter but it must be on your host/server/account somewhere or another site that allows linking.

So basically your file name is 960X274STARS.swf which would imply that it should be in your main directory or maybe the directory you are putting this code such as yoursite.com/960X274STARS.swf

If you are putting this code in the promo area say page_1.html then it would seem like the .swf should be uploaded to yoursite.com/templates/tmpl_uni/960X274STARS.swf because that's where you maybe are inserting the code for example.

Otherwise sometimes ../960X274STARS.swf
or maybe even ../../960X274STARS.swf

You might also try being specific with the code too like:
http://www.yoursite.com/960X274STARS.swf
http://www.yoursite.com/myflash/960X274STARS.swf
or other for example.

So if one knew what page you were trying to put this flash/.swf and where you actually have it uploaded to might be helpful.
