Suggestion

Guys, I don't often write in caps, but in this case I'm compelled to do so. Before I do, let me tell you my background so you can understand where I'm coming from. I have 25+ years of software development experience, with the last 13 being on the net, and the last 10 being in the e-commerce space. I have an MBA from Columbia University, and run a software dev shop in Asia. As you can see from my credentials I have some knowledge of what I'm about to say.

STOP MAKING CHANGES! YOU ARE INTRODUCING MORE BUGS THAN YOU ARE SOLVING. WE DON'T NEED COOL NEW FUNCTIONALITY RIGHT NOW WE NEED A STABLE PLATFORM THAT DOESN'T BREAK EVERY TIME I LOOK AT IT. SLOW DOWN YOUR RELEASE SCHEDULE. ADDRESS THE BUGS AND THE DISSATSIFIED CUSTOMERS BEFORE YOU MAKE ANY MORE CHANGES. I WILL HAVE A VERY DIFFICULT TIME RECOMMENDING YOUR PHENOMENAL PRODUCT UNTILL IT'S STABLE AND THAT WILL FORCE ME TO LOOK AT ALTERNATIVES. SOMETHING I DO NOT WANT TO DO.

End Caps. Please, STOP with the changes for now. Humans have a limit to how much new stuff they can accept and since Social Networking is primarily dealing with humans you have to be very careful about how many changes you introduce and how often. I'd even be willing to pay more than the annual license if the product was more stable.

I think EVERYONE agrees... What's funny is there were FREE mods for 6.000X that did a better job of doing some of the things they added to 6.1... The popup login box and the drag and drop boxes in admin are some of the buggiest things I have ever seen!!!

Even i agree wid u...
I've said in many posts, and still say, boonex releases new versions of dolphin with too less time gap between them. By the time one modifies one version according to his needs and launches a site, boonex comes wid the next version. And this condition is faced by many people. They loose all of their mods and have to start again after upgrading. With these regular upgrades and mods, the system develops bugs in it...and slowly we reach a point when the next upgrade may just destroy the site.
Boonex thinks that releasing 4-5 dolphin versions in a year is gud thing, but that's not so. Instead boonex should work extensively on the script for several months and add as many new features as it can to make dolphin better. We can see that we have so many features in trac which are yet to be added to dolphin. So why does boonex releases a new version without all those requested features??
The reality is that boonex is trying to fulfill the promise of releasing 4-5 versions a year. But is that a gud thing? It seems that whenever boonex releases a new version, it assumes that all of us have site with only dolphin and no other mod...so they just release an upgrade patch with few new features...and think that slowly wid these patches and upgrades, dolphin script wud become great...
BUT WHAT ABOUT THOSE WHO HAVE MODS IN THEIR SITES??? Even www.boonex.us is a simple dolphin site on which, i think, boonex uses the upgrade to show us that it works. But what about us...this simply means that whoever wants to use dolphin, should keep working on his site forever and wud keep thinking if his site wud ever become stable.
.
Boonex we want a stable dolphin, and not these regular releases which come after less interval wid just few new features.
.
Now please dont recomment me to use another networking script. That's no solution for this big problem.
Thanks.

and no chat admin or moderators.
sad thing is they stop working on the older version so the few bugs still on it never get addressed and that means there'll never be a stable version of dolphin

i think this has been said too many times. these guys obviously dont care what those of us who are users think. you see clearly how hard they are pushing the smart pack pro for $998.00. i have read so many posts in the past week, where people have paid that $998.00 and now their site is not functional. they have posted on this blog, posted in the forum, and these people are desperate. Not only have they spent the money $998.00, but also have used the recommended hosting HFW, paid for the install of RMS, paid for mods and the installation of those mods, paid for templates and the installation of those templates, and now they are sitting at their monitor wondering what has gone wrong. The extremely sad part about this is that BOONEX IGNORES their cries.

this could be a fantastic script, if these guys would focus this could be a standard, but the script that is being released, and the fact that there is no support, purchased or not, will run this script in the ground. I know of greater software that has gone under from poor support and badly managed business model, Boonex, you guys are heading in the wrong direction. Yes 6.1 is great, well except for the boonies that you guys implemented, somebody spent a ton of time putting those in every corner and crevice of this script. I read the other day where we are now waiting on v6.1.2, are you kidding me? fix what you have released, stop releasing other versions, stop adding to the broken script. ITS BROKEN GUYS, fix what is broken. well i could go on and on, but there is no use.

later,
DosDawg

Ok, I'm going to say this again, because it's pretty obvious due to the lack of response from the site admins that my suggestion has not been heard.

STOP MAKING CHANGES. RIGHT NOW!

Guys, it's obvious to me that you have a full blown rebellion on your hands right now and that the only reason that these users are still here is because of how great your product is.

We don't want 4-5 releases per year. We want 1 stable one. If you want to see other Open Source packages that do the release cycle right, checkout phpBB and SugarCRM.

Please, SLOW DOWN before I have to start looking at something else.

And guys, how about a PUBLIC bug tracker. We know that software has bugs, it's the 21st century, it's nothing to be ashamed of, or to hide in a closet. Perhaps even some of us will address those bugs. Sunshine is the best dissinfectant.

All is 100% correct. If you want to go into bussiness, then the first thing to have success is your aftersale for who have paid or even not...

And ofcourse a stable product in all sections.
