Is your server running libxslt?

Is PHP compiled with --with -xsl?

Anyone?  Does Boonex support monitor these forums?

Dunno...

Here is what is happening with my site:

Site is up and running...no probs with Orca....seemingly no probs with a/v chat.

When I go into my CPanel to add a DIRECTORY INDEX (Dolphin and such lie in a folder inside the root URL) ... after updating and when I click on Forums.... it starts giving me a page listing the file tree for ORCA....ugh.

Delete the Directory Index file from CPanel....it goes back to normal operation.

Then....I tried a re-direct....that was even worse....gave errors to the main Dolphin site... wouldn't open.

So my question to you all is: How do I get my URL www.mysite.com to bring up www.mysite.com/community/index.php?

Thanks again for your input!

I am confused.   Boonex is telling me XSLT is NOT enabled.

My hosting provider is telling me it is..by the following statement:

Hello, On the phpinfo.php page, if you scroll down and look under the section named "XSL", it states the following: XSL enabled libXSLT Version 1.1.11 libXSLT compiled against libxml Version 2.6.16 EXSLT enabled libeXSLT Version 1.1.11

Boonex support it telling me it is not, and I am just passing emails back and forth, with no resolution on either part.

Boonex orca link

clearly shows

this:

--with-dom --enable-xslt --with-xslt-sablot

http://www.boonex.net/iconss/orca_set2.gif

PHP 5 version is compiled with XML support by default. You should check PHP settings for XSL com

What is the difference between XSL, which shows enabled with libxslt and XSLT module listed on Boonex orca site?

Anyone have any idea on what the deal is?

Here is a link to my phpinfo, hope someone can help!

bro,

you are surely in a catch 22 here. i would opt that your hosting provider needs to do a recompile. there is nothing wrong with the script. yes your php.ini says it was compiled with it, but, i have also seen where there was a bad compile or a partial compile, and you would think its installed but not running.

i think i would ask if they can recompile php with-dom and everything else we need to run dolphin, which of course i dont think there is a comprehensive list of exactly how to configure your server to run a dolphin site.

mrpowless, this is a good one for you. i have i think 10 dolphin/orca sites fought this battle for about three months with the header and footer not parsing, somehow it got repaired through your suggestions and server support doin what i ask them to do. now i was reading this so i took the liberty without checking to see if orca was working correctly before i called up that /?xsl_mode-client on my domain. then when i ran that, this is what i saw.

MrPowless XSL Transformation

now whats baffling, is its something else, unless i created this problem by running that uri? but i checked four or five other  sites and they are as healthy as can be. so knowing that and reviewing this problem that i am now facing, what would you suggest my next move would be? i am not certain if this was there prior to running the /?xsl or not, but most likely it wasnt or i would have known it was there, and the stranger part is that all the others are working. now on this particular domain, i am just now installing a script called php my directory, which has all kinds of weird crap in it, and needs ioncube to run. this could have broken it, but the script is not installed, just ioncube.

grrrr

I received my final email from my hosting service and they assured me everything is working correctly.  With no answer from Boonex, I fear I am forced to dump my community project until another resolution is found.  I do believe it is a software error on their part.

I am just wondering why I only get the errors when I drill down into a discussion topic, other than that, it runs fine until I do that.

Boonex support is giving me no answers, other than the fact XSLT is not installed, which according to my host, is, and I will not change servers for this issue.

I just found an interesting link to another community software.

Geez dude.. I don't run the server from my house you know. I am limited on what I can do with that issue..

Disabling, and restarting stuff is NOT an option for me.. as I have no immediate control on that..

IN fact, if that is what the majority of users gotta put up with the get something running, then it really isn't worth the hassle in the end..

Honestly, I am not impressed with either one.  elgg is not impressive at all and although phpizabi looks a bit better, the core functions of the site really give no user any advantage to joining.

Pilot Group finally sent me the link to the server install of trial  DatingPRO social Site - Will install it on my server and look at it, although it is a bit of a chunk out of the pocket..  will let you know what it looks like..

Dolphin is still really easy to manage thought...  although, for the price, should include a few more options such as free template, bulk photo uploading for sure and album creation, instead of a constant purchase system for these options..

Got a reply from Boonex today. I quote:

"Hello, we have fixed bugs, please check your site."

Without ever stating what they did, I was anxious to see if I could do something in the forums, well, the same error appeared after I drilled down into a topic I created..

I contact them to see what they did.. their response:

"Hello, we have revealed  why your site is not working, ask your hoster upgrade libxslt on server, because we have revealed that your current libxslt is old or maybe work incorrect. You can forward our mail to your hoster."

I am running libxslt Version 1.1.11 and libxslt compiled against libxml Version 2.6.16

The latest versions are 1.1.24 and 2.6.24 respectively

I told them I do not think this could be an issue. As I see it, most servers in the country are not jumping to update all their software at the drop of a dime when the 'latest version' comes out.  If it were the case however, and everyone upgraded Dolphin at the drop, then apparently, there would be way more reports than what I am trying to fix.. Do you not agree?

I don;t have the option of telling my host to upgrade their software.  So what does anyone else have for me?

First they told me it was fixed, not they are telling my I have to do something. hmmmm

Maybe you should try another company other than lunarpages or lunarmania or whatever the host calls themselves.

You could and will save you self a ton of time, effort, and trouble if you transfer to a host that is known to work with dolphin, ray and orca. Why fight it. The host just don't seem to be set up for dolphin. Or they have some issues with some of their modules.

I love the support of Lunarpages, although with this issue.

With the lack of support from Dolphin, I am not sure if I have future problems, it will be fixed quick enough for me.

I know I can get private hosting with them, and prob resolve the issue by recompiling everything, but at this point, I am not going to change anything, since I run other sites on the same host.

There are alternatives to Dolphin, and even though my forums and groups are not working, I have an issue with my classifieds not working correctly either, the sub categories ajax does not load for some reason, and with limited support, I am not sure I will get that resolved to get it working.

I will play with it a while, perhaps a fresh download is what is needed, if the install I have is corrupt or something.  I will try on  another address, same server, and see if the install will run smoother?...

Thanks for all the help.  I will post results if the issue is resolved.. with a fresh install..

Quote · 18 Jun 2008

Final response:

Hello, we have tried to reinstall Dolphin's Orca, but it didn't help,
your XSLlib is old and this is why it doesn't work. You can download
standlone version Orca and install, but it will be worked separately,
you members will not be registered in Orca they have to be registered
again in Orca and standalone version Orca template is not matched
Dolphin template.

---- TECH RESPONSE STARTS HERE ----

Hi, I believe there is some confusion, we do not have any non-production servers for development. If, Boonex is telling you that our shared servers don't meet the requirements which I find it hard to believe after reviewing their website and provided the technical requirements. * Linux/Unix (RedHat, Debian, FreeBSD, Mandrake, etc.) or Windows OS * Apache Web Server * PHP 4.4.0/5.1.0 and higher compiled with XML and XSL * MySQL 4.1.0 and higher You can view this as well by visiting: http://www.boonex.com/products/orca/orcademo/ Also, I see no real documentation from Boonex just a referal to Expertzzz Support System which is a forum board which appears to be made up of volunteers not actual support from Boonex. We have some users on Lunarpages that use Dolphin and seem to have no issues running it. The only way you would be able to customize the libraries and PHP modules to your needs is through a VPS account. Which as mentioned I do not see how Boonex would display the Technical Requirements then say that it won't work. I am looking at where it is stated the least version of PHP is PHP 4.4.0 and using version 5 on our servers those modules would be much higher in value per Module given the version 5.2.x If, you have not purchased the software; I would suggest looking for a more stable forum software for your needs. -- Thank you. Please feel free to contact us with any concerns or questions. Best Regards, Mark

I am reading this thread with great interest.

I started a project a month ago and have been building up my work. I have purchased several mods for my Dolphin system. I had a recent problem so I started from scratch with v 6.12 and had it looking as it did before. I have had a problem with the forum that I couldn't figure out until I saw your thread.

I have the same symptoms you mention here.

1) I can create forums but cannot enter into them

2) I get an error when I attempt to view any of the forums:

3)

hi guys...code has this..try it

Server XSLT support is not enabled, try to use client XSL transformation http://your-domain/orca/?xsl_mode=client

I tried that and it spits out a bunch of garble across the top part of the screen.

Try it and see:  http://skidpics.com/community/orca/?xsl_mode=client

Is that what it is supposed to do?? (this is copied from a response above, but I have the same experience).

I am sure I could pack up my database and try another host but this is why I bought my own vps so I could run many sites on it. I had hoped to have several Dolphin sites on it when I got going.

I know there are sometimes limits on VPS machines. They are not always like standalones (especially true of Windows ones).  I would like to know if there is a solution to this issue.

L XML READ FAILED.

There was a problem retrieving the XML data

This is what I see on my own VPS which ith the requirements given by Boonex, when I try to use the forums.

In my case, I am running a VPS from VPSLand.

I have found some differences in VPS offerings. Some of them alter the OS so they can run. Example: Windows based VPSes on this system cannot do windows updates as it changes the OS too much. You can also not run antivirus programs as there are parts of the OS that are not standard.

I am wondering if this is part of the issue.

I dunno - all poblems with no immediate answers.

If Boonex is maiing their software to run off one server, hotforweb, which is where they only make a commision every time someone signs up - kinda like 'sign up at lunarpages - get 1500GB of storage and 15000GB of transfer for only $6.95 !

Either way - if they are making dolphin to run on just one server, then they will be loosing customers right and left, whether free and/or paid (900+ bucks)  It's their choice!
