I am posting this as a blog as I didn't want to sully Bramin's with this very long entry. You can see Bramin's helpful blog post here.
This blog post is in reply to a member. I found the member's post counter productive not only to Bramin's blog but to one of my own. I trust this blog will clarify the member's inaccurate statments about the work on the 38 Second Dolphin Installer.
-------------------
Shadow1,
Welcome to Boonex Unity!
I wanted to let you know that your statements are inaccurate as it relates to the work I am doing with the 38 Second Dolphin Installer. I believe had you read my blog in its entirety, you would retract your statement(s). I also know it would be helpful that you understand how this community operates. Please let me explain.
re:"Setup Dolphin in 38 seconds is a Joke!..."
Wrong. Sorry to ruin your day but it is real and not a joke.
Not sure what you're trying to say, but if you *read* the 38 Seconds dolphin install blog entry you will realize the main import of this application. If you read the blog entry you will realize it is for development purposes. For your reference, here's the blog entry again.
By reading it before posting your inaccurate reply, I think you will have saved some face. On a local version, I can set up Dolphin in less than 20-25 seconds. Not bad for something you somehow called a "joke" and have never even tried. Ofcourse, there is nothing worst than a movie critic who has never seen the movie.
re:"... You need more time only for unzip..."
Wrong again.
Not for this application. Again, please read the blog post I made.
re:"... and change File permissions."
*sigh*...Wrong...again
No need to deal with permissions for this application. Regardless, that can be done automatically. But as a programmer of 10 years (as you've mentioned), I would think you would have known that.
Let's take a look at what you said to sammie:
"@sammie I know what i'm talking, do you know?"
Orly? And I guess you think you know what you're talking about? Let's find out.
If you you knew what you're talking about, then why are you asking basic questions like:
"...Where are the Docs? How do i create a cusomized Theme?"
As I write this blog post, you are living up to your self proclaimed newbie title. See this post:
http://www.boonex.com/unity/forums/topic/Can-t-register-Ray-get-only-blank-popup-window.htm
So this is what you call, "...know what I'm talking..." about?
hmm...very Interesting.
Now, I do understand you might know what your talking about in other areas of *your* life, but in this instance it has nothing to do with Dolphin (as per your own examples) and that does not make it germane to the subject at hand, does it. So again, not sure what it is you are trying to say.
For the record, sammie does know what she's talking about. Conversely, it looks like you know very little about sammie. And as per your example not much about the other members as well.
re:"I am a newbie with Dolphin but over 10 years programmer?"
Incredible, a newbie who thinks they know what they're talking about and will then rail against other members. about Dolphin.
Nice.
re:"What are u talking? You have to unzip and change the file permissions, it doesnt matter if u do it on the Server or your local Machine!?"
[shakes head] Uhm. Yes, it does matter. It matter very much. See earlier replies.
But wait, let me help you a bit...
Regarding permissions and Dolphin, see cyberxing, mrpowless, mscott, sammie and dosdawg's previous posts about this and other topics. I think gameutopia also has a resource site and I am sure you can find more info there.

cyberxing - www.askboonex.com
mscott - www.makeasocialnetwork.com
gameutopia - www.dialme.com
I understand with only 3 days member status and who knows how many days of previous lurking, you obviously have missed these important topics.
Btw, lurking is good.
You get to have a feel for the community and its customs. However, as evidenced by your initial posts, it doesn't appear you've done too much of it. And if you did, you didn't pay close attention to the nuances of this community's culture.
re:"Sure you save a few seconds if u unzip on the Server (btw, most dont have shell access!) But only chmod and unzip is MORE then 38 seconds! Prove me anything else."
As I write this reply, I am thinking to myself, "Imagine, all this could have been avoided had you read the 38 Second Dolphin Install blog".
Let me educate you a bit, anyone can have permissions set up in less than 30 seconds. I think dosdawgs has a full install within 60 seconds. Again, as a programmer, shouldn't you have known that? Permissions is Web programmer Basics 101. Get with the times.
Additionally, along with the blog, there was even a video. If you had watched the video you will notice a few details that most Web programmers/developers will notice. Not sure why you didn't notice what my network of developers did. But then again, they read my blog and unfortunately, you didn't.
If I can develop #1 a little more. You've mentioned you're a newbie with Dolphin, so in reality, your statement about being a programmer isn't germane to the topic as your experience is not with Dolphin. So why even mention it?
To refresh your memory, I am referring to your reply to dosdawg, where you said the following:
"@DosDawg I am a newbie with Dolphin but over 10 years programmer? What are u talking?"
My question to you Shadow1 is, "Why even use it as a leveraging point in your argument?". As you've mentioned, you are a Dolphin newbie. Being a programmer does not magically give you insight into the way Dolphin works.
So in essence, your argument has no weight. It is useless.
If anything, I just picture someone pounding their chest like an 800lb gorilla making an ineffectual statement hoping it will make someone jump. If you can't tell already, I'm not jumping.
Ironically, that "10 year programmer" statement is what immediately caught my attention.
It surprises me whenever someone pulls out the old "I'm a programmer for over 10 years" line (or some derivative) expecting to somehow intimidate, gain favor curry respect (or whatever) from those who are not. To me that is lame. Ofcourse at this point, the assumption is that you've been programming correctly for 10 years.
Having 10 years of experience in anything will at times not account for much. For all I know, you've been doing it wrong for 10 years. So in this case, programmer time doesn't matter because as you've mentioned, you are a newbie to Dolphin. What does matter are your results! And that is what this site is about. It's about Dolphin/Boonex and not "10 years programmer" of who-knows-what.
And finally, one of your issued questions to dosdawg where the last sentence read:
"...Prove me anything else."
Au contraire, who are you? Prove to the community you aren't just another troll or someone who is bent on raining on someone else's efforts to help.
Shadow1, why don't you contribute an extension or learn how to make one and then share it. Be a somebody, be constructive. You said you were a programmer. Then prove it. Why don't you show the community what 10 years of programming can culminate to as it relates to Dolphin. With 10 years programming experience, it really shouldn't take you long.
The reality is, I don't know who you really are as you are hiding behind an avatar. One of the things you have proven to me is that you are offering a crit on a Dolphin work that is based on your own misinformation and ignorance. As a programmer of 10 years (as you've claimed), you should know better. To put it in programming terms, you've used an undeclared variable after setting an option explicit statement. And that is a newbie mistake.
Anonymity is both the Internet's benefit and bane. It is recursive. If the last few days has shown us anything is that the system is open to abuse and we are on high alert. In my viewpoint, you just happen to set on off the flags to the bol value of true.
Please show some appreciation to those who went out of their way to share information they found useful. At the very least, you are now aware that resources exist related to Dolphin. Bramin, took the time out of his schedule and posted resources he found useful. He could've been doing other things but he gave up some of his time to share his collection of links. To me, that is super cool.
Bramin, kudos to you. You have my vote along with others who have put in the efforts to help grow this community by giving and sharing free mods and information.
...sip...
re:"...so why bother'..."
Because I care about how this community will turn out. We are in the formative years of this journey and allowing trolls to stifle productive blogs like Bramin's is not good for you or anyone who holds an interest in the community's success. Imagine if you posted what you felt was helpful, took time out of your day then someone blasted it with misinformation.
re:"is what i was thinking about that long ass post."
Yeah it was. lol! see more
wasted time, not really, we have to spend it somewhere,
wasted dbase space, something would have used it. might as well been this post.
what good is a community without a community interacting. this is interaction. bramin spent time serious time not only to compile his list, but to present it to the community, and for that i am thankful. i was going to do the same thing, but now that i see there are those of you who see more
well said.
i know some people dont like me, but sadly thats their loss.
i am a webmaster, i am not a programmer and never writen a single line of code in my life.
webmasters dont need to be programmer, they do need to know what they are doing with scripts and how to install them and change code and understand the knock on effect of changing code, and thats what i know.
people that proclaim to be programmers and ask basic questions in posts 2-3 weeks before, like "how do i set see more
I Will Admit when I first came to this Community I was a Real HOT DOG (Pork n Turkey no Beef) LOL. I made a few Slamming posts... which of course I do regret.
Like Sammie I have been a Wen Host Provider and Web Master since 1994 and know just enough about Perl, CGI, and PHP as well as the Lunix Server to get in in trouble... which I do real see more
I get asked often about how does dolphin do this and how does dolphin do that, and a lot of times my reply is a simple "I dont know"
Then I spend 30 minutes to 1 hour defending about how I truely do know what I am doing, and just because I have not taken a look see to figure it out does not meen I do no thave the ability to do so!
so to repeat what Mr. James... has said so clearly
Being a Programmer Doesn't Magically Give You Insight into the way Dolphin see more
