In search of a great CMS

It was on Youtube I discovered Dolphin. I'd never heard of it before and the promotion video knocked me off. Was this real?

I've been searching for a new platform for our local news sites that we've run for three years on basic Wordpress installs. Our problem with our hyperlocal news site is the kack of user interactivity. We produce news every day but our users only have the post comment section to meet with us and all others. This has to change. But how can I use Dolphin for this, is the question.

The coming days of investigation will tell.

Dolphin has a lot of ways for your user interactions. They can post articles, blog, polls, upload videos, music, photos and much more. I run a community site for our small town and we use it for our residents to post articles of interest, promote events and groups, create polls and about everything else Dolphin lets us do. The groups can be especially useful as you can also create articles there. The Forums will give everyone the ability to post information as well. Pretty much ANYTHING our see more members want to do, they can. It's a great interactive program and it will do so much more for you than your existing WordPress site. Look for some of the advanced mods for Articles, Groups, Events and Polls as well. They add a lot of features and interactivity to the base system.

Thanks! I'm still overwhelmed by all the options.
It sounds interesting with the mods you're suggesting. I find the Boonex Market a bit difficult to search but I'll dig into it right away.

We like to offer our advertisers new options such as designed groups as well.

Wordpress would be quite limited indeed if you're looking for social networking!

In general, a CMS + web app suite with modules available out of the box, that you can then trim down to your needs, is a far better pick than doing a hunt-and-plug-in rally across the internets. Good luck for the hunt!

Wordpress i very limited, but with Buddypress it will fly better.

I still think Boonex is miles ahead with some solid functionallity but it seems to be a slow moving giant with a very strange system for support and app development.

When looking at mod prices for relatively small functions this can be a very expensive road to take if you're not programming yourself.

If you search for a cms better get a cms i think (Dolphin is Jack of all trades but master of none for now). Unless you are thinking for the future mutation of your cms towards a more dating/flirting approach.

Below is the legacy version of the Boonex site, maintained for Dolphin.Pro 7.x support.
The new Dolphin solution is powered by UNA Community Management System.
