It's time to relase 7.0.1

It is time to release 7.0.1 and push all current tickets to 7.0.2.  There are a great number of fixes people are waiting to use and install to their site.  I see over 100 closed tickets, some duplicates, but you really need to push those out to live servers for a few reasons:

1.  Some of the fixes are major and go to the core functioning for Dolphin, (i.e. Facebook Connect)

2.  These fixes do need to be tested themselves to ensure they work and don't cause additional bugs by the fix

3.  Besides the posted fixes, there is likely additional code modifications and tweeks that need to be tested

4.  Anyone with premium access can post a bug, so the chances of all bugs being closed out is 0%, the list will just grow longer.

A line needs to be drawn where after x closed bugs or x time, a new release is published.  This ensures important fixes are pushed out to webmasters at a regular interval and takes away the guessing game of when to expect an update.

I couldn't agree less. There are still a lot of unfixed bugs that really should be tended to before another release. Since the release of 7.0, I don't think the Boonex staff has had sufficient time to work on trac issues... they been pre-occupied with this site and the new agent system.

LOL, i think enough bugs were moved to the next fictional version already, so no, it is not time to release another buggy version with the promise of all will be fixed in some fictional numbered release Way down the line of eons in time. This software is very much in beta still, despite the badge. Its become almost a running joke now... Id be suprised if i see a Dolphin that works properly without loads and loads of tweaking in my life time, so ya all better get used to it.... LOL

I actually think you're both right.

Boonex should put out what they know though they can't have done that much as they have been busy sorting out Unity Though some sort of patch would be good.

I am quite surprised this is coming out so soon, as much as I love Dolphin the bugs in 7 are bugging me alot lately. I doubt they came close to fixing them so I will wait to hear what others have to say when they update, before I jump in with feet first LOL...and regret it, as my site is up and running since NYE with paying customers, I'm not about to commit business suicide.

I am honestly worried about a patch with more than 100+ changes in it. The only way to tell if all those fixes work and don't break anything else is to put it on a server. As Iworld said, that is hard with a live site. You can only imagine my trepidation in installing a patch with 200+ bug fixes, not including code changes that are not listed. So that's why I propose releasing smaller patches, less harm can occur.

The work on Dolphin 7.0.1 is not stopped and tickets are closed every day.
We will try to close as much as possible current bugs in the nearest future and publish 7.0.1 beta/preview. After some testing 7.0.1 release will be published.

I wish we just knew the approximate date. If it is in a week or so most here would probably hold off on their mods and to the upgrade first. On the other hand, if it is months off most of us would probably continue modifying our sites. Would it be possible to get a rough time frame for this?

Yes your answer is soon..lmao

I think about hundred bug fixes is more than enough to roll out an upgrade. Who knows of what else will fall into pieces then. Anyway it needs to be tested by a larger audience. After all we're the Guiana pigs.

I have zero issues with DOL 7. I have not touched or altered anything. It's hosted on simple install of Scientific Linux. We have put it threw the gears for 3 months before deciding to use it with our online game currently 47% threw development.

In fact I am so impressed with DOL 7 I have been recommending it to others. (Something I have never done with Dolphin before) When hosting on windows servers you will have nuthing but issues. As Windows servers are made for dummies and do not have the see more same robust functions as Linux.

If your having issues or bugs or what not. You need to look at your server config or host the site yourself on your own server. Sadly if you can't figure out it works and keeps blaming user error on the DOL team you probably lack the skills necessary to set up and maintain a Linux server.
I have been doing this work with web and programming code for 15 years. I am wrong about alot... but not this

DOL 7 Works. If it don't for you, your doing something wrong OR your host is not as compatible as you might think.

I am sorry if I offended anyone. I don't have a magical install or a different version then the rest of you. So I didn't some how fluke and get the only working version of DOL. Or did god take pity on my frustrated development team and say "Let their your version copy of DOL work like nobody else's business"
