Time to clean up!

LightWolf posted 30th of June 2009 in Community Voice. 24 comments.

Unoboonex, it is time to have someone go through the members that post here and find members that have made more then one account here. I got on and saw a certain member that is logging in as a few people and only voting negative votes out of anger and spite. There is 1 member that has many names and uses them purely to vote and leave negative responses on peoples posts.

To the member that is doing this at this time, we know who you are and we WILL catch you and stop all this childish behavior here. We found one of your names that will NOT be used and we will find the others. You are only hurting yourself by displaying such negativity here. I don't know why you have such hate in your heart, but I do know that your "Karma" is about to find you and well I sure would not want to be you.

Now I am sure that once I post this you will give me negative votes, but I expect this will happen so go for it. I also hope the Pundits will watch this blog post and trac all that view and vote on it.

If we are going to clean these blogs up, we must first start by cleaning up members that have many names. If you are not using the software for a website then why would you be here? Or at least why would you care who we are and what we think? Move on with your life and please do something more constructive, trust me it is a good thing to do constructive things!

Anyways this is just my suggestion and hope Boonex will take the time to at least check into this.

A most excellent suggestion. We all know who the member with 20+ accounts/Imaginary friends is.

It's not an easy thing to detect multiple accounts. IP addresses are practically useless. However, it would probably be useful to prune some inactive accounts. Any account with no registered licenses, no forum or blog posts, and maybe some other criteria, should be considered inactive, and possibly suspended, or have reduced privileges.

Lightwolf, I hope someone gives this due consideration. see more I'm sure you will hear some of the following comments, so I'll get them out of the way in advance:)

1. Boonex is busy working on Dolphin 7.
2. I'd rather see them fixing bugs in D6.
3. Don't take the voting system so seriously.
4. Don't let drive by negatives get to you..just move on.
5. Gee... there are far more important issues to worry about.
6. Let's not open this can of worms again.
7, etc, etc, etc, bla bla bla

Well, anyway... there's my list of standard responses you'll probably get. Let me know if I've missed any. (If anyone wants to cite one of these standard responses, just enter the number and save yourself some time)

Well said Houstonlively, this is very important to the development of this software also. If this person/persons are allowed to continue this rage on Unity members, it will only bring bad energy to what so many have spent so long trying to create.

Ok, im going to moderate myself here and keep it very impartial as i do think this is a very important subject
The mods i feel do a great job now on here, even started editing posts to appropriate content, which i know many dont agree with, but its the right thing to do.
This suggestion seems the next logical step forward in cleaning up the site, this after all is Boonex's public face, and its got to be worth the effort, i think it is anyway.

These multiple account makers dont do it for innocent see more reasons, they do it to cause a lot of bad feeling, and still gives a sense of things not quite being under control yet, which is never good.
I know that Boonex is busy getting on with what they do, but isnt the solution to this problem easy to solve. It's not for me to suggest the solution but it seems obvious to me that this site needs a site manager with admin powers, that is in charge of the site and nothing else. A site that is as big as this need the proper hierarchy in place like all sites have.

i hope im not being disrespectful when i say this, i really dont mean it to be, but i get the impression that the team know how to produce some brilliant software in the shape of Dolphin and so on, but just not quite sure on this side of things and i can only see this getting worse as they get more and more popular as they obviously will with the software they produce, it is really the best around (no sucking up intended) and people are going to start flocking here with D7 and D8 and so on and that really does need proper management.

Tyke I agree with you to this point. A site manager is really a needed, who can respond directly if needed.

I almost positive "bad music man" doesn't need multiple accounts.. he has just figured out how to vote multiple times on one post. Remember if you click "negative votes" it will show everyone who voted.. and its just one guy.
houstonlively
I have figured out how it's done. I knew it had to be something simple. Watch me add 20 positive votes to this blog.

Are we ready? Here goes...

@LightWolf

Can you please send me (via PM) usernames of the accounts you suspect to be from the one person who seed trolls? We will check them.

We have found a little bug with voting system but did not have the time to fix. We will fix it after the upcoming Beta release.
LightWolf
pm sent hon. Thanks for replying to post, it is much appreciated.
houstonlively
Oh well.... I added 16 positives in about one minute... close enough.

Victor, there a voting loophole that needs to be closed.
houstonlively
You can add as many positive or negative votes as you want and it won't appear in the live tracker as a 'Rated By'
LightWolf
Wow you rock Houstonlively!! This REALLY is a bug that needs to be fixed soon. Nice jog. If anyone else knows of members that have more then one account, please let Boonex staff know so we can clean this site up and people can have members they can trust to help them.

I don't care how good you are with this software, if you have more then one account that is not connected to your website, this means you have a bad side also and I would NOT allow you to have access to my website. So we need to protect see more the newbies that will surely come when D7 is released.

You don't need more than one account to add all the positives or negatives that you want.
houstonlively
Would you like some more positives? How many would you like?
houstonlively
30 more's gonna cost you. I gave you 9 more though to give you 30 total. You owe me.
LightWolf
lol Okay I owe you, but get this, when technoman was doing his thing I saw on the trac him viewing my blog only, It never showed him rating it and I was at 1 positive vote, and then refreshing page I was -5 votes. When you were doing that I saw on trac each time. I just think this really, really needs to be checked out soon.
houstonlively
My ratings don't show up on the tracker, just the posts that I've made
houstonlively
Just make sure you're nice to me..... I could easily take all those positives back.
LightWolf
While watching you though i saw each time on the live trac.
houstonlively
It will soon be fixed. Technoboy's 15 minutes are up.

Good point, LightWolf!
