Mission

The BoonEx mission is to Unite People. We want people to collaborate in reaching global and personal goals. We believe that the entire world can be turned into a compassionate, humane and caring community. BoonEx can do it. BoonEx does it. We produce community software, build a community of customers and operate as a community ourselves. BoonEx explores and introduces the power of collaboration in social life and business relations. This is a big, global mission, which was very difficult to achieve in the past, but now we are in the age of global information exchange, the age of the Internet; and we now have truly effective tools to establish common values and change the world. BoonEx is excited to be in the avanguard of this initiative. By creating social networks and providing community software to like-minded people, we bring people closer - we help them to be friends again, en masse. We believe that uniting human kind can save the Earth, can stop wars, and can heal itself.

History

BoonEx is a private company, based in Sydney, Australia, focusing solely on community software since 2001. Founded by Andrew Boon and Julia Boon and first known as aeWebworks, the company operated from the Kyrgyz Republic until 2007. From the very first months of operation BoonEx achieved a leading position in the dating software industry, only to disrupt it later and transform into a community software company. We are proud to be recognized as one of the most popular, experienced and innovative vendors in the social software market.

Our flagship product - BoonEx Dolphin - is used by over 100,000 webmasters around the world powering social sites in all languages, niches and localities. Dolphin has gone through hundreds of version revisions and remains one of the world’s best community management systems.

Unity

BoonEx Unity is a professional collaboration network for BoonEx clients, developers, service providers and software vendors to work on, trade and discuss anything related to BoonEx and Dolphin. Everyone is free to join, however we do have a nominal one time fee of $5 that activates posting priviligies. This is nessessary to combat spam, trolling and fraud. Unity boasts over 100,000 members, with hundreds of new ones joining every day.

BoonEx Market is where Dolphin extensions, modifications and plugins are openly traded. Only Premium Members have the right to advertize their products and services on Market. BoonEx keeps it as an open platform, without comission and without transactions mediation. Buyers and sellers communicate and trade directly. Ratings and feedback help to determine the product quality and vendor reputation. We strongly advise caution and a gradual approach to making your choice at the Market.

BoonEx Forums host member discussions, technical and organizational conversations, code sharing, bug reporting, feature suggestions, pre-release talks and much more. Advanced and Premium members are free to post to Forums. Advertising is not permitted. The BoonEx Team activley participates in Forums and we always encourage members to post anything that requires BoonEx or other members’ reactions to Forums.

BoonEx Notes are for voicing opinion, publishing news and thoughts that don’t necessarily require discussion, but rather provide information or an author’s insight on anything related to BoonEx. Advertising is not permitted. Advanced and Premium members can post Notes and comments to them. Notes are not for technical support, bug reports or feature suggestions. BoonEx News is published as featured Notes.

BoonEx Jobs is a BoonEx-focused freelance services platform. Despite the fact that there are hundreds of extensions offered at Market, many clients still need something unique. Advanced and Premium members can post job offers, to receive bids and to choose the most professional providers. BoonEx doesn’t participate in these transactions, and we strongly advise split payments and gradual ordering.

BoonEx Websites section features Dolphin-powered sites that Unity Members submit for public scrutiny. This is also a great way to “announce” a new community, promote it and get an extra link. Some of the websites are beautiful, real-life examples of Dolphin in action, and we’re very excited to see dozens of new submissions arriving every day. Only Advanced and Premium members can submit their websites for inclusion.

Team

We are a small team with a big impact. Thousands of Unity members help so much that we proudly call them a team too. BoonExers work from Sydney, Australia and from Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic. Over a period of 10 years, more than 200 employees worked for BoonEx, but now we enjoy keeping it lean, with only a dozen core team members. Julia Boon and Andrew Boon are the founders and directors.

Social Responsibility

BoonEx "adopts" a new dolphin with every new version release. Additionally, we donate to a number of causes in environment protection, human disability and animal rights. We believe that every drop counts and appeal to everyone to give back and share their success for a better future for the entire world. BoonEx issues free Dolphin licenses to non-profit causes and agencies.

Customer Service

BoonEx is 100% focused on Dolphin development and no longer provides any customization services. Even with Dolphin’s unique set of features, the Unity Market place offers further customization and mods that may be just right for your site. There are many independent developers who have studied Dolphin code and have developed modules and plug-ins to further enhance Dolphin. They are allowed to offer their products on the Unity Market.

We highly recommend using BoonEx Forums as the first choice for technical and general support enquiries. This allows the BoonEx Team and all Unity Members to collaborate on helping with any issues. This also makes conversations public, and hence, reusable for those with similar questions.

BoonEx provides general post-sale technical support, via the Support area. Free and paid options are available. Free support is generally provided only for license activation, bug reports and minor site-deployment issues. Personalized technical assistance generally requires a paid ticket to be submmited.
