BUSINESS PERSPECTIVE (6.1 Bugs/Glitches)

Hi Boonex,

I'm one of your biggest fans; let me get that out of the way, right now. I absolutely love the software and think its one of the best; (if not THE best); on the market.

Now, on to business...

As a business owner and one who is looking to utilize Dolphin in a major way to facilitate the communication(s) between my Members and Staff; I have to say that there are some pretty stifling glitches in 6.1.

I'm busy - I don't want to take limited time available to me to write this - yet, I feel it essential and I appreciate you guys and the community you've created. YOU NEED TO HEAR, TAKE HEED AND ACT ON THIS (soon).

Although 6.1 is a far cry from 6.0.005 in the right direction; I think it would be good to employ more business minded individuals on your beta testing team; (even if you have to pay them); because some of this stuff I'm about to list is just elementary.

ADMIN SECTION
When you add a profile manually; as Admin, (which is something that is often done when creating a new Membership site that you expect people to pay to access), there is no way to set the Membership Level.

This was available in v.6.0.005; WHY you took it out of v.6.1 makes NO sense to me.

ALSO, as Admin you can't change Member Level; which is what I immediately looked for whence I realized there was no way to set it upon creating a profile.

I THEN went straight to the database and found 'ProfileMemLevels' and set the desired Member Level; (c'mon); which coincidently doesn't reflect in the Admin view when looking at Members!

THIS SUCKS!! How in the world am I supposed to be able to do any type of simple Member demographic analysis if I don't know who's what Member Level, at a glance?? Which I'm more than sure was the whole purpose behind giving us an overall view of the Membership in the first place.

OH and BTW, searching by Member ID returns a database query error!!

AS A USER
What's up with Orca showing "[L[Forum.." all over the place?? I've seen questions from other BoonexERS regarding this but have yet to see an answer. If I'm missing something, please forgive me and point me in the right direction to rectify this problem.

You guys NEED to address this NOW because the Forum is a MAJOR part of the whole Community. Nuff said.

NOW THIS was a problem in v.6.0.005, as well... and I simply went in and fixed it. Hoping that it was fixed in v.6.1; (and maybe this is minor to you BUT could prove major to those who don't know how to fix it - its not fixed in v.6.1); TinyMCE variables in the templates is not escaped!!

C'mon guys; how simple is this? I'll give you that with this being a major endeavor that this was overlooked... and yes, the fix is fairly simple - FOR THOSE THAT KNOW HOW - but, again this would freak the average "user" out and cause the Admin of the site a BIG headache.

FROM A BUSINESS PERSPECTIVE - and this is just a suggestion....
But, don't you think it would be advantageous for Boonex to allow the site Admin to add their affiliate links to the free versions of Ray and Dolphin ads?

This would NOT be hard to implement; just a couple extra lines of code. Again, just a suggestion - but one that would greatly enhance your presense on the web.

Again, I love you guys and really appreciate the work you're doing and have done. All of the above can be handled with a couple of hours of coding, really. Yet, these issues are major enough to cause the site Admin MAJOR headaches and seriously contemplate going with a different package.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE take this post with love and consideration to get a patch out to rectify these issues ASAP.

Thank you in advance for your consideration and attention to these issues.

Sincere regards,
William "tecHead" Frazier
