Member Login Major Problem

When Member Login is clicked,
Sometime it opens member.php page and sometime popup login page.
If member.php page opend user can login with Email Address.
But if popup page is opened user can only login with its Nickname only.
Where as both of the placeses its asking for email add.
How to rectify this error ?
so that in both places user able to login with its email address only.
