Dolphin is not an ordinary script its an extraordinary script

people slag off boonex and dolphin and they are usually the people that have no concept of what it is or its needs.
80% of the issues with dolphin are host related, and if you do not have the correct host or server settings then dolphin just wont work.

it needs to be hosted on servers that are setup for it. i have 2 dedicated hosting servers both setup just for Dolphin i pay almost $600 a month for the servers, i can assure you see more that most $5 a month hosts will not support dolphin.

i host a few select business people that sought me out personally for their hosting as they know i know what it takes and that i have my own sites hosted on my servers and running without errors.

there are a few bugs left in 6.1.4 and i have secured a promis from boonex to make a final 6.1.5 bug fix release so people can stick with 6.1 if they so wish.

boonex has also listened to me about the callbacks Dolphin makes and have also promised to change that in Dolphin 7.

Boonex might have some flaws in customer services but this is improving a lot. they do listen and they do work hard. i am also very outspoken and not affraid to let Boonex know when i see things going wrong. they ahve made changes to their business and Dolphin because of direct input from myself. they listen to others too and that shows that they are working to impove things all around.

i dont care what someone posts on a website about this crap script or that crap company, you can find posts about every company on the web, what matters is your personal experiance with them.

i for one back boonex 100% and i said it before and i'll say it again.

Hmmm, not sure how truthful you are being there, seems this post is self-serving. I understand you offer 3rd party services for dolphin and you are a host but to paint the new software with such a wide brush is not being very kind to other resellers or the dolphin software / developers for that matter.

The truth is, nobody knows how the new version will perform since it isn't even in alpha let alone see more beta mode yet. I know plenty of folks that run WordPress, Drupal, PivotX as well as Etomite on cheap servers with no issues that could not be addressed by going to a faster/larger sever when and if the membership / visitors was to actually climb in large numbers.

For those reading this you just need to know that not all hosts are built the same and you have no idea what kind of gear is behind a $5 account. If you want to know, wait for the download and try it yourself. Reading about someone saying that this don't work and that's too slow is just not reality. You have no idea how much this person knows about servers and installing scripts.

Side note: I am previewing the new build on IE7 because that's what the majority of my visitors will be using. I saw a previous comment where someone said switch to Firefox and problem solved. Not gonna happen, it has to work for all major platforms and right now when I try to load the site my browser actually stops responding for about 2 sometimes 3 minutes - not good.

@ MapleSwingers on most shared host with that price tag you are only allowed 10% of the CPU... which will not be sufficient to run Ray or to carry a fairly active site.

to compare Dolphin to wordpress, just shows your total lack of Knowledge about servers and hosting and dolphin.

let see more me explain a few things as to why most hosts cant run Dolphin.

when a server is setup it has default settings that php.net set as the default install, most hosts keep to this.

mbstring encoding is set to off as default.

DOM/xls is not installed on the default php setup of a server so has to be installed

imagemagic is a 3rd party script not always installed by hosts.

and no shared host will install the RMS and JRE1.6 so you can run all the ray apps. there for Dolphin will not run fully on any shared $5 hosting account. you'll have to get RMS access elsewhere for one.

not to mention that some of them have Register_globals on, meaning your site will be hacked.
