I just thought of something for the couples/group thing your working on....The couples/groups page must still be searchable like a normal profile. It shouldnt be a separate search at all.
I can see a problem arising when someone is doing a general search for anyone located in the state of Oregon (for example). That person will have a hell of a time sifting through the results.....simply because they will only pull results for actual single profiles, and not the couple/group profiles.
On the see more flip side of the argument though....if you have the couples/group profiles mixed with the single profiles....a member who is searching will keep seeing duplicates of the same member. THey will see the other members single profiles and their group profiles. Which may not sound like a big deal, but when you have say 300 couples in a searchable area, it could become quite the headache!....
You also will want to make sure that the couples/groups profiles are kept separate from the normal groups. That way when you run a search you wont pull up all of the groups...when in actuality all you wanted was couples/groups profile pages
