I have a heavily moded 6.14 site and from what I can tell, 7 has lots of those mods built in. I think you should go with a 7 install and then start adding in mods from 6.14 that are missing. You will most likely have to modify a bit to get them to work. The authors might offer an upgrade for discounted rate.
