Coming up with a sensible moderation policy for the blogs is a wise move:
If the reason for the moderation is because a user has posted a help request which belongs in the forum and it has been decided to give 24hrs notice to the user to move the post to the forum or deletion will occur is sufficient.
If it has been missed for a while and problem resolved, it would be unnessercery to over moderate, unless it falls under another moderation rule..ie abusive comments.
I do have a suggestion see more for when we change to D7..to help policing of blog comments.
A small dropdown box which you can choose who can comment upon your blog, ie either.. world, all registered users, friends, or none.
also perhaps if you choose 'world' then comments could be 'awaiting your approval'
To take this idea a step farther, if some one is known to make posts and comments which are constantly negative and divisive that member could have a read only status that requires all their posts and replies to be approved before being made public.
