Conceptually I like the idea of giving attention to previous posts in some manner. This line of thinking is a way of showing respect to the original poster. Especially since it was/is quite confusing as to what is allowed to be posted and where it should be posted.

I'm not a fan of just deleting anything someone has written. Unless it's something illegal then I think it should stay. Good or bad, right or wrong. Censorship even in the vain of trying to keep the place looking a certain way is just see more wrong. After some time old blog posts and forum posts could go into an archive file. But to simply delete them? Nah. Well, just my opinion.

But, the specific idea of leaving "question" posts because they were posted in the past just might lead to confusion for some of the newer Unity members coming in the future.

I would think 'moving' a blog post to the forum wouldn't be a clear cut and easy task for a moderator. For the poster maybe. All they would have to do is simply cut and paste the question into a forum section before the blog post would be removed.

Not being privy to the inner workings of the upcoming changes I would still say the current side bar set up is over done and confusing. Forums could very easily contain the sub forums for "answers", "extensions", "jobs", "ads", and "specials" along with an overall dolphin category with the subs of the various versions etc. Blogs can then be a very obvious place for just other ramblings about dolphin or what we're doing with dolphin or what ever is allowed after the new rules come into affect. This forum structure would also allow the moderators to move a forum post if it's under the wrong category.

An example of confusion - I have a question about something that's wrong with my Dolphin site. Do I ask the question in "answers" or the forum -> sub-forum Dolphin -> sub-forum Dolphin 6.1.??

Actually if done properly the forum would encompass all things and the blogs wouldn't be needed. They're not needed anyway. Just an extra place to voice stuff. But if it's all available in the forums with the proper structure then we all know where to go for all our needs. The blogs then become a small part of the big picture here at Unity. Then they can be a place for general blogging stuff, unrestricted, like a general blog is. Or completely done away with if Boonex just doesn't want that kind of blogging.
