I find it funny how some people get so very upset if they get negative votes.
The biggest problem is that everyone needs to consider the context of the vote - In the case of blogs - the voting is really referring to opinions - of which everyone has their own - If your opinion is little left field or perhaps expressed in a strong or unusual manner it is bound to stir emotions - voting is likely to be extreme. A negative vote doesn't mean a bad post - it simply means that the voter disagrees with see more your opinion - which they are entitled to do. (freedom of speech etc).
In the case of the answers section - the voting is actually reflecting the value of the post in a different way - it is a vote about the answer itself - a good / correct solution will get a positive vote - a bad solution or one that didn't work will get a bad vote.
The context of the two areas is completely different
