In reply to Suspended Members

I disagree with call of unfairness - the suspension(s) are for good reason - that has been plain to see for anyone who frequents this site, and whilst others may well deserve to also be suspended or banned - for the reasons you stated - there are correct channels for dealing with those kind of accusations / situations.

It sounds more like a legal matter than a social one to me.

So we allow those who steal or have stolen from members in the passed to be allowed to have access to same place crimes started and leave to attorneys? That sounds like just slapping ones hands and saying we trust you again not to steal from our members. Sorry i see no logic in this at all.

I'm not sure how long you have been on this site hon, but i have been here since 2007 and i have seen and heard a LOT of sad story's of theft and lies to members. And yes Boonex is trying to clean this site see more up,but what part of this site. Just the blogs? What about the ones who took peoples money or crashed their website...ect... why are they allowed to still have accounts and post in blogs? Let's not just say the past is the past cause sometimes the past can come back and haunt you.

I too have complained in my blog about the scammers and the negative image it creates for the site, it is something that definitely needs to be addressed. This is readily apparent no matter how long you have been a member.

At the end of the day this is just a website - the only thing it really serves to do is to act as a platform for communication. Theft is a 'Real World' issue - one that needs to be deal with in the proper manner - ie - with police. The police have the correct tools to deal with see more these things - tools commonly referred to as the law. Account suspension is not the right way.

It is not Boonex's responsibility to act on hearsay - they would be foolish to do so, I do think that it would be a good move to suspend / remove accounts for members that have proven to be acting illegally on / via the site - but this would obviously require proof of a conviction or a trust in the person making the accusations, at the end of the day is only a courtesy - not a requirement (unless forced by court injuction).

I have been in a similar situation on a site that I run, where a vendor had been accused of taking orders but not delivering - it was a difficult situation to deal with. I ended up suspending the account and removing advertisements - this was largely based on the fact that I could trust the accusers opinion, and that there were several reports.

I will say that this situation is actually a LOT more difficult to deal with here - mostly because of the melodrama associated with the accusations - it reminds me of the boy who cried wolf - There's too much background noise to be able to distinguish fact from fiction.

ZenTens answer a few posts down is very eloquently put, and echo's my thought's on this.

Just out of interest, are you talking from personal experience when you are mentioning theft?
