This would be a nice feature to have, but it is a feature, and to a certain extent has just added to the confusion of a very basic and critical issue we have been trying to get addressed that is being discussed on this thread:

To clarify, this issue if fine, but on that thread you said you were posting this blog to help us get attention, but this has very little to do with that issue.

Rob, if you can't see the connection between the base issue your talking about and the additon of dependent values and how it can help you, then I'm not sure what to say here.

When you code for the pre-dependent values you automatically have to code it that if the value of the field is null then the field is NOT displayed on the profile or whereever it applies. Thus, this eliminates your dilemna of the fields not being selected. Keep in mind that a Pre-dependent Values Table also requires additional see more work to the search files in order to get it all to work and this includes the null value item that we're talking about.

I'm not saying they are not related, I'm just saying this might confuse the issue because it describes a feature that needs the basic function were were discussing on that thread - i.e. the ability to correctly assign values in a field made from a predefined values table, and the ability to "null" the selection in a search based on one of those fields. For some reason, Boonex developers either don't understand this, or don't want to understand this, so I was concerned that this might confuse see more them further. I made that posted comment late at night, and I thought it was you claiming that this this blog post was about the issue we were discussing on that thread. On re-reading, however, I see that it was not you that made that claim, but mauricecomo (sp?). Sorry if this caused even more confusion.
