I read an article in a computer magazine which stated that Oracle could remove MySql from the public domain and promote there own database products instead. They wanted people to sign a petition to ensure that could not happen.

According to a Google search, IBM, Cisco and Oracle were in there to buy Sun Micro systems. Cisco were in there right up til Oracle bought it.
