MyDatery was helpful to many members here. He was also very passionate about his ideas and at times would convey them in similar manner. If you've ever dealt with John, you'll know what I mean ;)

When John first came to Unity he didn't know the first thing to Dolphin. He didn't even know how install it. In time and I am sure with a lot of hard work, he became very proficient and was able to help out many who went through similar issues and problems when setting up a Dolphin site. After a while, see more he was known as an expert and built up a bit of a fan base. His most recent project I understand was very heavy in PHP and code that was stretching his skills to a new level.

Over a course of a couple of years, John went from zero to hero. He went into a new world with Dolphin and discovered the intracacies of the PHP, MySQL, CSS, jQuery and all kinds of other acronymatic phrases. He worked and he became one of the regulars at Unity. So much that, when I don't see him chime in, I will ask myself, "hmmmm...where's mydatery? I wonder what he has to say this time". Truth be told, whatever he had to say, I would usually seek to read it as I can be guaranteed it will be interesting as long as it had the Original MyDatery spice added to it. When that spice got added, it was rarely boring and made for some threads where hilarity would sometimes ensue.

I've read that in order to discover new worlds, you have to have the courage to lose site of the shore. Not all can do that, but I think John did it very well with his work here at Unity.
