All you do is go into admin area.
Under settings you should se pre. def. values

Add your field
hair

and add all the options

But do not start your index with 0 start with 1

Then the 1st index eg. blond will be the default
field value.

At field manager in the content box just add
#!Hair and dolphin will you your pre def values
for that field.

A easy way to check this is to creat a profile field language and in content add
#!Language and save
you will see the see more def value for that is then english if you check the pre. def. values under settings you will notice that the Language field start with index 1 and not 0
0 meand select that.
