Date of Birth field broken for Chrome v24 in 7.0.9

Hey everyone,

Have any of you noticed that the Date of Birth join field no longer works in Dolphin 7.0.9 for Chrome v24 users? Is there any work around?

Thanks!

I use 7.0.9 and with 24.0.1312.52 (under Debian) there is no problem. What exactly isn't working?

I'm seeing the issue under Debian with Chrome 24.0.1312.52. Wonder what the difference is. . .

I wonder if this is a problem with the most recent Chrome. I've noticed several issues with it, including problems with the flash chat software sound.

 This did not fix.

This site was installed today; I just pulled the files from SVN and uploaded to http://www.mygaylocations.com/join.php, there have been no modifications to the site. I open the two changed files in editor and the changes are there, cache folders are all clean too.

Calendar still will not work.

So this is a problem for my 7.0.9 sites as well.

So the latest Chrome version will not allow new members to sign up now.

The two changes Alex posted did not work for 7.1.0; testing my most popular .9, a site where I noticed new memberships have almost stopped, turn out it's the calendar..

help us..

[edit] are you guys checking your sites on Chrome?

My most popular adult site, where age is most important is being effected by this problem.

I had no idea so many users use Chrome.

It would help if some others could confirm this problem.

also confirmed at demo.boonex.com

Tried this fix in 7.0.9, and I think it worked. I applied it to the if statement ABOVE the datetime picker stuff, as well as after. Cleared the cache. It now seems to work.

14 Jan 2013

OK, I applied the fix to my 7.0.9 site but the calendar is very hard to manipulate.

Have done the most up to date "updates" to test site and it still will not work in Chrome I'm going crazy  trying to figure this out.

I've checked on your site using Chrome 24 on Mac and it is working.

Also I've checked the fix in Chrome 24 on Windows.

I'd suggest you to clear your browser cache.

Also I've noticed one thing - if you click on the date, then calendar is shown, but if you click on the date filed, but no on the date, then calendar isn't shown.

thanks for personally checking Alex!

that's the one thing I have not done is clear this browser cache..I'll do that and check.

The "webkit" that was added, I added to .9; is that why the calendar is totally different looking?

that was it, my cache.. Embarassed

I did have to add this fix to 7.0.9 sites as well.

What a headache.

like the person has hit enter, this is even happening on the index page where you "login"

Hi,

ran into the same problem, tried to apply the fix on both versions (7.0.9 and 7.1), cleared cache manually even, cleared browser cache and even tested on machines that never has been on the registration page at all, but the the calendar is still broken in Chrome 24 :(

PS to Boonex for this forum: Its helpful that the error messages appears on top of the page when you click "Reply" in the bottom of it...

17 Jan 2013

Hi. Could someone please inform those that are still using 7.0.9 how to fix this issue?  I tried applying the fix for 7.1 to my 7.0.9 version of site but it has not worked. Not quite ready to upgrade yet.

Getting lots of emails from people trying to join my site and not able to. Would really prefer a fix instead of having to email those that bother to let me know there is a problem. Don't want to think about the possible members that I am losing that have not tried to email and have gone else where instead.

I just cleared my browser's "From the beginning of time" just to be sure but when I go to www.demo.boonex.com the date of birth field does not work there either.

Is it just me or can anyone else confirm this?

You think that if there was a fix they would definitely use it on their demo site. Can anyone at Boonex confirm the fix has actually been applied to the demo?

It has not been applied to the demo site.

When boonex does fixes in trac they are always for the next version. They do not update the existing version. In trac it is listed as a fix for dolphin 7.1.1. The demo site is running 7.1.0 which is the current release.

This is how things have always been done.

Anyhow. the fix is a little clunkey if you ask me. You either have to click on the numbers of the date that appears in the box or on the down arrows. Nothing happens if you click on a empty part of the input field. I have applied the fix on my 7.1 demo site. http://www2.deanbassett.com/

For dolphin 7.0.9 use the dolphin 7.1 version of jquery.webForms.js http://www.boonex.com/trac/dolphin/browser/branches/7.1/inc/js/jquery.webForms.js?rev=17368 Make a backup of your original first just in case. However the 7.1 version seems to work fine for my 7.0.9 site.

And add this to the bottom of templates/base/css/forms_adv.css

::-webkit-calendar-picker-indicator {
    display: none;
}

Thanks for your help Deano.

It wasn't until I changed the jquery.webForms.js file over using the 7.1 version in place of the 7.0.9 version, as you did, that it actually worked.

Have you noticed yet if anything else has been affected by making this change?

Ok. You can't use the dolphin 7.1 version. It breaks the advance settings section in admin.

So. Try the version i attached. It's a modified 7.0.9 version.

 Hi Deano,

I swapped the jquery.webForms.js file... The date format changed to four numbers in the 3000 range?

Any ideas? I was using the latest firefox browser.

The file i provided was for dolphin 7.0.9. You do not use that for 7.1.

For 7.1 the patch is in trac. http://www.boonex.com/trac/dolphin/ticket/2955

However i don't really understand that year 2556.

I would go back and edit the post to make the dolphin version more clear, but boonex still thinks it's a good idea to put time limits on editing posts.

Ok. I looked up the Thai Calendar.

I understand now. But i do not know if that would affect the date picker. But if it worked before, it should now.

My guess is you overwrote your dolphin 7.1 version with the 7.0.9 version i posted.

Hello Deano, many thanks for that.

There are many many Americans living over here where the cost of living is a fraction of that in the US and the UK. The average annual temperature is around 28 to 32 degrees celsius.

I thought I'd update the main thread.

I've implemented the fixes, cleared out the cache.  And it still doesn't work.

Is it possible to use an alternative calender that doesn't drop down?

24 Jan 2013

Instead of a calendar where you click your way through.

I'd rather have three dropdowns:    dd  mm  yyyy

Faster and we'd avoid the problem with the calendar picking.
Must be easy replaceable.

I have been looking into doing that. Nope, not as easy as you might think. Dolphins form generator was just not designed for 3 drop downs on a single line for one field.

i tried the fix and now it is working .

Thx

Before i wrote i don't see this problem on my site with chrome, but suddenly it appeared. No, my cache was clean from any .js.... so it's strange. Anyway after applying the above patch it works again.

But: Why all browsers show a different date format? One is showing american format like yyyy-mm-dd another one europe format dd-mm-yyyy and on mobile browsers it's also totally different. Isn't there a way to tell all browsers to use the same date format?
