Deanos Facebook Connect Support - part 7

Quote · 4 May 2015

Similar code.

But you would have to use the non popup version unless you want to go though all of the trouble to include the js scripting to make the popup work as well. The easiest way is just with a static image link.

<a href="http://www.yoursite.com/modules/?r=deanos_facebook_connect/login_form"><img border="0" src="http://www.yoursite.com/modules/deano/deanos_facebook_connect/templates/base/images/fbconnectbut.png"></a>

That is just a basic standard html image with a link.

Hi Man ,

Silly question is your mod compatible with https ?

I install an ssl certificate on my site , and one of the member said that they couldn't pass the date of birth section , not sure what they did wrong or what ever happened  , just to add i can log on fine with your facebook module ,no problem . but again im already a member you see !

any idea ?

There have been no reports of problems using SSL. Others are doing it.

However. I see you are noticing from this post, that outside sources that your are linking to that are not using https will affect the page.

Also one other thing you will need to check. When you setup the app on the facebook side, you provided a URL to your site. That needs to be changed as well to https.

However, the believe the DOB thing is something they were doing wrong, or a problem with their browser. But you should join creating a new account using the standard dolphin join form to make sure that works and all of the check fields are passing properly. My connect module uses the same check fields as dolphin when making sure a field value has been entered correctly, so you need to make sure the standard dolphin join form works properly.

Deano,

Is this correct ---> Redirect to page after connect:{nickname} , is that mean my members will be redirected to Profile page is that right ?

If i want them to be redirected to the home page , will just insert index.php ?

Thanks

Thanks

No. Just a patch to one file to remove a scope that has been causing errors for some people. No major changes.

We use a splash page and want to place the fb login button there. However we run into some problems...

We found on this forum post the code for the button. Below the code we have placed on the splash page:
<a href="https://heavn.lab43.nl/modules/?r=deanos_facebook_connect/login_form"><img border="0" src="https://heavn.lab43.nl/modules/deano/deanos_facebook_connect/templates/base/images/fbconnectbut.png"></a>

If a member (new member, no account yet) clicks on the button, he goes to a facebook page where he can accept to share his data with us. After that FB links him back to us. But when this happens you get send to https://heavn.lab43.nl/splash.php#_=_

After checking this in administration we found out there isn't a new member created.

The same happens when we use the default login box on join.php and choose for your FB connect.

I send you last night a message with login data. Maybe you can check what is set wrong?

Will this at the very least be updated for 7.3.1? The new module install doesn't allow you to install in "add/manage" modules unless it is compatible. I was using an old version fine until I tried to update. Thanks.

Does it not still auto assign the user a username without the option oc changing it during registration like it always used to? I remember people ended up with Usernames they didn't like unless username change was turned on in Boonex which just adds work to the user when it could have been right the first time. I assumed it still operated that way?
