This is mentioned in the module description, however I can not find anywhere that a member can manually make a transaction to purchase Membership by using their points. Is this referring to the auto-membership feature you have integrated?

When auto membership is turned on, and a member reaches the threshold to upgrade, will they be deducted the defined balance?

I guess I can only post one review and haven't been able to find where to get support for this mod so I will try this forum although looks like it hasn't been replied to in eons.

I put the limit of points per day to 50 and well apparently that isn't working since everyone skyrocketed up over 100 in about an hour. Is there another setting I am missing??

 Yes, this is the proper channel for support. Do not misuse the Reviews section for support requests. The issue you highlighted will be investigated.

Does this module require the payments module and/or the membership module to work?

 If you want members to purchase Points then the Payments module is needed. The Membership module is not needed.

Thanks for the reply.  I bought the mod and it looks great but how does it tie into the membership system?   There's a previous question here from schnelson but no reply. Auto Membership is on but just says "empty". I set up points levels to correspond to membership levels. In settings both "use points to purchase membership" and "activate auto membership" are turned on, am I missing something?    

 You need to have paid membership levels setup is you are going to use the Points membership features.

can the earning of points allowed only on certain criterias?

1. +1 points for any post with min 10 comments, +1 points for every comment beyond 10 comments

2. +5 points for any post shared in facebook,twitter etc

3. +10 points for any referrals

4. +10 points for any likes/shares in fb/twitter

5. +1 points for chatting every minute in chatroom

6. +100 points for activity in groups, clubs, forums [every 10 subscribed members] 

    I start a club, invite min 10 members and if each member/10 is active daily[min 1 post or 1 comment or 1 like inside the club] i get 100 points/day

7. I expect a fantastic social gaming mod from you soon.

 There is no criteria functionality in the Points mod. You would have to get this custom developed.

at the points gift combo package there is no patch folder at the points zip. How should I upgrade my Ultimate Points (With Levels) version 2.0.0

 Will address this in 1-2 days time. A new patch is being worked on for the Points mod.

RESPONSE : No, but I acknowledge that a help file is needed to explain differences between normal points and level points etc. It will come in the next revision.

RESPONSE : I need to look at your site to get an idea of what might be the issue. Once the mod is installed, there is typically nothing that should stop points earning. PM me your site info.

3: My site has 3 different membership levels. These levels are based on a subscription a member purchases. How can I allow members who are a specific membership (paying more) earn more per action than another member?

RESPONSE : such ability does not exist. I am looking at implementing that functionality in the next revision that is being worked on.

feature request: I would like your point system but Im missing smscoin payment integration so user can buy points by sms message from mobile phone as this is most used method of payment in eastern europe... Esase credit mod have smscoin integration ... but I like more your mod..

 I have been looking at SMS options. It will come soon (not necessarily in the next version release though).

I did very reobust research on sms and phone call payment options  and tested many providers, garthered many informations and end up with two providers which seems to me best of best.

Those two seems to be really good so If u integrate maybe both of them will be great. Smscoin seems to have much better payout conditions than zaypay but on other side zaypay offer also pay by phone call option - best I think is integrate both :-)

On POINT LEADERS block on homepage the points is  9,223,372,036,849,990,656 and its going over the other member points. can it be cut off? like 9,223,372...

 Do not put zero in that setting. If you do not want the Point Leaders block to show then go to the Page Builder section and remove it from the homepage.

In Points/Manage Levels,

What happens if I put 2 levels with the same points? Can users choose which Level they want to be? (For Male and Female purposes)

I need to set the points to be earned in decimals.

When I go to "Manage Actions"/Action, I set "0.03" into Value, it appears as "0" after saving.

What do i need to change to set points to be earned in decimal?

In 'Settings', i am able to set "Cost for one Point: 0.01" and "Default Value for new Point Actions: 0.01". So its possible.

Do I just have to change the point type to a different type? E.g. Float/Decimal ?

Where is the option to add the price for the purchasable level?

 The mod is not designed to accommodate two levels with the same Points.

 The mod is not designed to accommodate decimal Points.

The word "Purchasable" is actually misused. It should have been "Achievable". I have adjusted this in the latest version (to be released shortly).

There are two kinds of Levels :

a) Levels that members Achieved by earning Points

b) Levels that Administration Awards to members based on some special performance or contribution to the site etc. For example, someone who promotes the site could be Awarded a Level called "Promoter" or someone who donates to the site could be Awarded a Level called "Sponsor".

Where to enter the paypal email for processing the purchasing of points?

When I try to buy points, it says "The Vendor does not accept payments"

Does the point mod use the admin panel paypal system or the admin's profile paypal system or does it have its own system?

Also, I managed to 'buy' points even when the paypal processing is not working.

I bought 100 points and the error came out "The Vendor does not accept payments".

Yet when I went to Points\Transaction History, the history of the 100 bought points are there. (No. of points bought, date purchased and Transaction ID are all filled up.)

What's the difference between 'points' and 'level points'?

Are points for earning and redeeming while level points are accumulative for the leveling up to the next level?

I went to settings/membership levels and set action of "xxx" membership ' point earn points' to inactive.

But yet "xxx" membership users are still able to earn points.

I had a test user which is of "xxx" membership and was still able to earn points and receive the "You acheived a new Level at...." email.

Am I un-ticking the correct box in membership levels/actions ?

I installed Ultimate Points (with Levels) 2.0.8 on a new install of Dolphin 7.0.9 with no issues.

How do I change the names of the levels like freshman, sophomore, etc?  I can't seem to figure that part out.

Demo link is in my signature. It has no such error, neither has any other client reported such error either.

Well, unfortunately the block "Point Leaders" is not on your homepage on the demo.

In any event, if you haven't had any other reports about it, then it must be an error on my site.

The block is on the homepage of my demo site, you are either looking at the wrong site or not looking properly. Please forward the error email I requested. Your error is unconventional and I need to see the message to determine what is causing it.

Points gained for rating an Item can be configured to be dependent on the value of the Rating (eg. An Item rated 5 stars gains more Points than an Item rated 3 stars). This can be turned on/off by Admin. If turned off, there will be a standard fixed Points value for Rating an item.

Possible to display the members' levels status in the Orca forums too? (Next to their avatar)

That'll be nice for members as there's some 'ranking' there as they post in the forum.

I have a big problem with points (2.1.0). I set this up so members can buy membership with points, everything works fine and the user even gets the message that he was upgraded. I tested it with a test user in the system. Now the problem, he never gets upgraded to the membership level he bought. What i do wrong?

I am not using auto-upgrade. also where as an admin i can see the transaction or anything else? Maybe it is because i not use payment module yet with a real paypal acount and your mod needs a working boonex payment module too?

The members are promo or standard members because i want to give them the ability to earn points and use them to get free memberships. its like standard users pay to get paid memberships with more features. is this not possible? yet the system subtracts the points but nothing happens for the user.

The new membership should start when the current one expires. This is the functionality of Dolphin, it does not do an immediate switch of the membership.

Maybe i was confused with what the auto membership can do. But how can a standard-member get the new level? these accounts never expire or?

After a membership expires they become standard members in dolphin, so there is no way for the user to pay with points to get a paid one? i don't get it what i can do with this feature then. From my point of view and about what you say they only can use their points while they are still a paid member. If they drop to standard member they have to pay with real money again to use their points on memberships because only then the account can expire.

Could it be possible to include this in the next release? I ask because the admin can move a member also instantly or not to another level, no matter which kind of membershipt the user is. Maybe there is no API for you to do this, i don't know.

Edit: It works for standard users, it was my mistake sorry. Looks like i tested only with promo members and not with standard ones. i just need wait 1 day to check the promo user will get upgraded. If i not write back agtain, forget everything i wrote above. :)

Questions about that because i am in the process of setting up this right now.

Which of the actions are minus and which plus? Blogs for example have not one  minus-values for deduction. All values i setup are positive. Is this a correct behaviour? I thought all delete actions should be negative like for events etc.It's really confusing because in events there are also some differences. "Delete Event comment" for example is postive too. While others are negativ. Is it possible to set this up by ourselves somewhere? i mean which is positive and which negative?

If members can just create and delete they always get points for free.

I like the idea about deducting points for delete-actions because members start about thinking not to upload useless stuff they might remove later. I think this increases the quality of the site.

 Negative and Positive actions should be obvious. If you are adding then that is a positive action. If you are deleting something then that is a negative action. However, you do not need to use any minus sign. Internally, the mod knows that it needs to do an addition of Points for a particular action or a subtraction for another action. The mod knows when to add or subtract based on the type of action.  All Points values entered MUST be a positive number.

I can't test all actions right now, but for blogs i just noticed the points got subtracted when deleting a post. Like you said. So i think only the "Point Activity" Menu shows the wrong values, in my case no "-" for delete actions. Is this a display-problem right now? if so how can the user know he gets points or looses?

Attached a screenshot, Avatar shows minus for delete actions, blogs and some other modules show sometimes and sometimes not.

@Modzzz: Can you reproduce this or do i have an error in reasoning? Shouldn't this be -5 for blogs and on some other actions?

I did without any success, still positive values. Even cleared dolphin cache and rebooted server. Also cleared my browser cache. Maybe i need a reinstall of points? WIll this break my other modules of you using the points system?

@Modzzz: After checking the file you mentioned I found the problem. It's this line

if(in_array($aEachAction['action'], array('delete','comment_delete','post_delete', 'unjoin')))

i extended it to

if(in_array($aEachAction['action'], array('delete','comment_delete','post_delete', 'unjoin', 'delete_post', 'commentRemoved', 'unflag', 'edit_del', 'delete_poll')))

And now the values for the "delete" actions show correct values. Its because in table modzzz_point_main the action values are not existent for these modules, they have different names in there.

The question is: Is there another place in your module that needs to be changed? I found this part in BxPointResponse.php where you subtract points based on the actions

Here is a contradiction. The cases shown do not match your original code above. So i am confused which values are meant for subtraction and which not. Can i just add the actions i added above to this block? Maybe there are more values, even "+"ones which are not correct by their name? Can you check this please?

This is the same fix I performed and you should have seen it if you re-downloaded the mod. You are still looking at the old file.

Ok...well, as you know, I have issues with the points mod and need to update all the files.

I have v 2.0.8 installed now. I just downloaded the newest file and it looks like you've done 3 updates since then.

I've made several changes to the languages and levels and removed things (like points leaders) because it produces errors.

 I've spent alot of time getting this to work as I need. If I upload your patches, I will most likely lose any changes I've done??

If the answer is Yes, can you please provide me with the fixes in a seperate file? It doesn't make sense that everytime you fix a bug, I have to start from scratch.

In case it may help... I've made hundreds of small changes to module and core Dolphin files and depend very much on a File & Folder Compare program to safely merge upgrades in my site.  I use ExamDiff Pro but there are many choices available.  I've used it to see not only which files have changes... which lines have changed... but which items within a line have changed... a very useful tool for merging module updates into customized files.

Thanks for the comment. Yeah..I've thought about doing that, and that was probably going to be my next step. I just figured it would be easy enough for him to do. In addition, I personally think the "fixes" should be available as a stand alone. In my opinon, it doesn't make sense to re-install everything to make a simple change. For example...just looking at one of these patches, it looks like all of the languages are over-written also?! Thanks for the suggestion.

Hi Modzzz. I re-downloaded the file again, and these fixes are not in there (2.1.1). I think you forgot to update the files in Points+Gifts+Rewards Packages, because i bought that package and cannot download this "standalone" one here. Even it is versioned 2.1.1 in the PGR-Package i cannot see the changes. Can you confirm in the other forum after you uploaded a new version because of this? So i can download again.

If you bought the Points+Gifts+Rewards package then you should be using the support forum for that product. That package is not updated as yet as I am working on an update for the Rewards also. It will be updated later today.

Does this mod automatically accommodate your Biz, Coupon, Ads, Events mod or do I have to add it from admin. If I have to add how do I do that please?

The mod automatically accommodates default boonex modules. All the modules you mention have integration instructions.

 I am unable to find the integration instructions. Are they in the individual mods or are they in the Points Mod? In either case I failed to see it. I do see "Add Action" in the Points, if that is the one where do I find the parameters to enter in each of the sections there?

RESPONSE: If this option is activated:

a) when a comment is posted on an item, both the commenter and the owner of the item will gain Points

b) when a Profile is viewed, both the viewer and the viewed will gain Points

c) when an item is rated, both the rater and the owner of the item will gain Points etc.

Points for rating items is on a per star basis:

RESPONSE: Let's use a scenario to explain. Assume you have setup the module to award 2 Points for Rating an Event. If this option is activated and you rate an Event 3 out of 5 stars, the total Points awarded will be 3*2=6 Points.

If this option is not activated and you rate an Event 3 out of 5 stars, the total Points awarded will be 2 Points.

Points gained only if positive vote received on comment or forum post:

RESPONSE:  Dolphin has a feature that allows members to vote on a comment (look beside any comment you will see + and - buttons). If this option is activated, Points will not be rewarded when the - button is clicked, but will be awarded when the + button is clicked

Added Points Vouchers

This allows administrator to create gift voucher codes that can be distributed for promotional purposes. Each code is configured with a value in Points and an optional life-span.

The voucher code is dynamically generated and Admin can configured the length of the code.

Quantity - This restricts how many times the Voucher can be redeemed. If there is no value for this, the Voucher can be redeemed unlimited

Start/End Date - The date periods are optional and when used they restrict the period of time for which the Voucher is valid.

Account page has block for members to redeem voucher codes.


Added Birthday Points

Administrator can choose to give Points to members as a gift on their birthday. This happens automatically. Fraud checks are in place that prevents a member from changing his birth date multiple times just to get birthday Points.

Fixed a glitch where Points were not being awarded (all combo packages are updated). Please download the mod again and replace this file :

modules\modzzz\point\classes\BxPointDb.php

Points Voucher creates database error.
Go to http://www.yoursite.com/member.php , REDEEM A POINTS VOUCHER box, just press “Go” without any value.
Database error occurs.
