Add/Create New Page

Using V6.1.4.

-

Ok kids...I have never been able to do this, with earlier versions using MrP's tutorials and now with the latest version using jtadeo tutorials.

-

The problem I have is that after creation, I click on the link on my site's menu and it gives a 404 error, page not found.

-

Now, do I have to make a copy of let's say the index.php page and rename it to the new page...I thought that the builders created this for us.

-

Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong here?

When I view the page preview in Admin: it shows the page.

-

http://www.mysite.com/members/viewPage.php?ID=Weather%20and%20News

-

But when I click on it as a guest/member it shows a 404 error.

-

http://www.mysite.com/members/members/weather_and_news.php

-

Any ideas on what the heck I am doing wrong here!

If I take out the members before /weather.php, I get an error in Admin as well.

Under my language settings I created two new keys:

Key =             _weather

String=           Weather and News

Category=        misc

-

-

Key =             _weather_and_news

String=           Weather and News

Category=       Page Titles

-

-

Then under the navigation menu builder:

-

-

System name=     Weather and News

Language key=     _weather

Default name=       Weather and News

URL=                    members/weather.php

-

-

Like I said under admin preview of the page, it shows up fine. But as a guest or member, 404 error.

Just a stab here, but is it possible that you forgot/didn't configure the page in your members settings? It's normal for the admin to be able to view anything and everything which explains your above comment, but I believe that most if not all viewable options & pages have to be assigned as such in the admin section where the different users are listed, i.e. non-member, members, temp account, whatever.

When you click one of the member options, there's a drop down box which enables you to have items available (or not). Perhaps your page is in there, and perhaps you just need to assign it properly (to the right type of account) ???

Greetings from Germany.
