Adding a second chat module???

Okay, here is a crazy, crazy question...

As more people come to my site, more people are also getting banned by my moderator...(maybe I should tell my moderator to stop banning people ;-)

She (my moderator) is suggesting something she noticed on wireclub.com ...

She thinks I should add a separate chat for members who are banned but still want to chat on the site...there already quite a few (darn it, what is she doing?)

Now it would be fairly easy to add and integrate a separate chat script from another company (using a separate database)...for example I already own a copy of prochatrooms script which I'm no longer even using.

However, I would really want it to look the same (and also use my same RMS).

I guess I was just wondering if it was at all possible to add another chat somewhere on the site... I know there are a few mods in marketplace that offer "group chat" and "events chat", but I want it to have all the same features as the regular chat (and access to RMS).

Just wondering if this was something that could be done ...or am I just crazy for asking...

You can copy the existing Chat module and make some slight edits so that it has its own name, database entries, etc.

The only input I can offer, is that the Rayz Group Chat module probably won't work for you.  The combination of Boonex Spy, Rayz Group Chat, and the SpyWall module wreaks havoc.  If I could manage to get Rayz attention, this issue might get resolved.  As it stands now, I certainly could not recommend the Rayz Group Chat module as a solution for you.  To bad... for the banned users, you could have set up a special group, and called it 'Numbnuts Chat' or something.

I know Rayz is a good developer, but sometimes he has the attention span of a newt.

I finally got a chance to take a closer look at Rayz's Group Chat.  This is exactly what I need!!!  This would be perfect!!!

I've already integrated a few of Rayz's  mods into my site, and they have all been 100% awesome.

I'm also planning to buy a few more since he's having a sale right now (amazing deals).

However, houstonlively, you've made me a bit nervous since I too have the spywall module (which I also love).

Have you figured out the issue you were having with this spywall module?  Did it have anything to do with the group chat module?

It's all working together now, but I have no idea why.  Rayz did something to the group chat mod on my site, but hasn't shared what he did.  I've asked him what he did to fix things, but I haven't heard back from him.  It would be nice to know.  The version I use is a little different than the standard one in the market.  I asked Rayz to change it so the chat opens in a popup window, instead of seemingly navigating away from the group pages.  I really wanted it on the tabbed menu along with main, forums, comments, and fans, but Rayz said that was impossible.  In coder speak, "impossible" means they don't feel like messing with it because it would be too much work.

It'll only cost you 27 bucks to find out if it's a solution for you.
