After new installation "misconfiguration on ."

I  installed a new version but I get the following error "misconfiguration on the server caused a hiccup" error 500. I noticed that if I remove the .htaccess file then it works but ofcourse the url rewrite is not working then.

I think I found it in .htaccess commented out:

#php_flag register_globals Off

Yes, that is the problem.
