Can __promo_code__ be used as a slide show?

I have removed the __promo_code__ from the home page of my site (per instuctions found on this forum... thanks!)

, but I'd like to use the __promo_code__ function as a smaller slideshow, in a column, in body of the home page,

I was thinking I could do this by putting __promo_code__ in a custom "html block" but that doesn't seem to work.

Has anyone don this?  is it possible?

If you decide that you can part with $29, I highly recommend Slideshopro SWF,  You can add both photos and videos to the slide show.

They have a free trial download on that page (It will add a big ugly green arrow to the images).

I use it on my site as a replacement for CoolIris

So... did you add the Javascript includes to _header.html

Then it's just a matter of adding the "flashcontent" <div> to a custom html block?

No.  I use it in place of CoolIris on the photo album preview page.  I added all the js to /modules/boonex/photos/templates/base/album_preview.html

I have bigger plans for Slideshow pro, but this is all I use it for at the moment.

It's getting prcier... It says you can do this "stand alone" but they are making it hard to figure out how.  I've been clicking on a circle of links with nothing more that vauge references to XML files.. I suppose so they can sell Slideshow Pro Director for another $59 on top of the $29

Their Slideshow SWF product, is a standalone product.  You don't need anything else to put it to use.  You can download the trial version and see for yourself.  I looked at a ton of flash gallery/slide show products, and In my opinion, this is the best one available.  It's definitely the most versatile.  You can customize just about everything via an xml file.. colors..fonts sizes...etc.  The embed code contains the path to param.xml, which controls the look and feel of the embedded swf.  The embed code also contains the name of the xml file with the content to display.

I did purchase a hosted Director account.... $80 for 24 months.  ( $3.33 per month)  I thought it was a deal.  They give you all kinds of tools to upload and  manage content on their server.  The media management you get with their hosted director account, is outstanding

If you just want to display a slide show of the exact same images for all eternity, all this is probably an overkill.  If you have media slide shows that will be frequently updated, this system sure makes things easy

Yeah.. this isn't going to be changed much.. once I've got XML file configured it wll probably be not touched, but once a year.

I do have another problem... I tried to add the flashcontent <div> to a custom HTML Block in Page Blocks and can't get it to save

the code I put the code in a html block, clicked save, I give me a message that it is saved, no errors,

I clean the cache go to the homepage on the frontend and the code is not there (oing a view source)

l tried just adding plain text, also not there

any ideas on why this is happening? or how I can fix it?
