Comments needs login

Hello,

I cannot find the way to make sure visitors will login or register before they can post a comment. I added the code from dialme.com - very helpful site - but then we cannot access the blog without login . I want people to be able to read the blogs freely without having to login BUT NEED to login to post a comment.

I am sure it's very simple but...cannot find it :-)

Thanks a lot for your help.

Thank you so much for your help but it is already set up that way and you still can post a comment as anonymous without having to login...so it does not work. I need to make sure people have to login to post a comment.

Thank you again.

okay, what yo can do is go to membershiplevels - non-member give them acces to use blog but remove comment post.
This should be working I think.

Thank you so much.

I did what you said but I still cannot post, I mean when I clck on "add a comment" I don't see any message saying "you need to login to add a comment" - I post my comment and then I have : (available for 82 seconds) I think it start around 88 seconds. And then at 0 seconds my message is gone.

Bottom line is: My comment is not posted and the login page does not popup so...looser both ways..

Thank for your help. Seems that I still need help :-)

Allegra,

You also need to have your site OUT OF free mode for this to work. Go to admin, settings, membership levels, and make sure that the "Site is running in free mode" box is Unchecked

Hope this helps :)

IT WORKED!!! Thank you so much.

Now I have another major problem...sorry...it seems that the members login in the header works only on the homepage...please can you tell me how to make sure the login works on everyp page?

Thank you very much for your help. I appreciate it.

You are welcome :)

Please provide more specifics to your next issue. Are you speaking of the "Join Now" and "Member Login" that is at the top right of each page when viewing the site as a Non-member ??? What is the error you receive when triyng to login unsuccessfully ???

Any link for a person to join should be pointed to "www.yoursite.com/join.php" and any link for a member to login should point to "www.yoursite.com/member.php". Make sure that these links are pointing to the right files.

Hope this helps :)

Thank you again for sticking with me. Smile

I am not saying that it does not work - what happens is: on the other pages than the homepage, Join works on everypage and opens the right page - but I click on members login from another page than the homepage, the page become transparent but NOWHERE you can see a login form, like on the homepage.

It's not that it does not work - it is just not there but on the homepage, so that can be very confusing for people - they may not have the reflex to go back to the homepage to login.

Thanks a lot for your time.

I understand now :)

Hmmmm, I tried many of the Dophin sites I work with and I cannot duplicate your problem. The header should not change from page to page. The link should work regardless of what page you are on. Have you made any modifications to your script since the install ???

Thank you for your reply.

The header does not change - only the login fields like I have on the homepage are not there...

This is on the homepage (plus the fields of course)

Allegra,

I am having trouble replicating your problem. If you want, you can PM me and give me a link to your site where I can take a closer look. I can't think of any good reason why it would work on the homepage and not on the other pages.

I would need to take a closer look.
