Do you think I should change my hosting company?

Hello everyone,

I have a problem and I need your input please.

I hired a coder to install Ray 3.5 as part of Dolphin 6.1 to one of my existing site as I wanted to add a social network.

To start we had the problem that we couldn't upload files more than 2M,  this problem was fixed. however, once the upload is finished we get an error.

The coder believes it is because PHP exec() function disabled on my account and this is function is needed to play the videos.

the second thing is: these values need to be set
max_execution_time=1000
max_input_time=1000

When I contacted my hosting company they advised that PHP exec() is disabled due to high risk reasons and they aren't willing to enable it.

The problem with moving my host is that my site is HUGE and will take time and effort to do all the transfer. My question is: Do you know of any other way to fix this problem without transferring my hosting or do I have to move my hosting and move on?

Thank you for your help in advance.

Warmest Regards,

Lama Kalla

Hi lama, well after only doing this for a couple of week, the one thing i have learned is that dolphin needs a good host, not just a good host, but one that knows dolphin and is set up for dolphin. Thats one of the most important things. If your host wont enable important things that dolphin needs, then although your site might look as if its works, it will cause you more problem in the long run.

.

Dont worry though, there are plenty of people about that will point you in the right direction (i can hear sammie's footsteps running in behind me as i speak ) lol :-)

Hi tyke

Thank you so much for your reply.

It looks like moving the hosting is my only option.

You could get a manage vps and ask them to move your whole site for you .Most managed vps hosting does that. The most important thing to keep in mind before getting a vps is that your ram should not be less than 512mb since java application uses large amount of system resources.

Yes, switch your hosting to Nexhosting, www.nexhosting.ca  is the best company for Boonex hosting. At $3.88 per month which includes unlimited band with and disk space and 100% up time, you can't go wrong.  What I live about them is they deal with boonex related problems and if their is a problem, they work with you to try and resolve that problem.

They will not just suspend your account because their is a issue, but they will contact you and help you to resolve it. They also offer VPS hosting for only $7.88 per month.
