Friend Requests

Hi all...  After searching the forums, I found other posts with the same problem but no responses on how to fix it.   When a user gets a friend request there is no notification other than the email. I would think there should be a pop-up or a notification somewhere indicating a friend request.  The only way the user would know is if they actually clicked the friends button on the bottom which they wouldnt do unless a friend is online.

Is there any way to add a pop-up or some kind of notification to indicate a friend request?

Nice request. This really should be an option to add to members accounts. I hope someone figures it out for us. Did you search market and see if someone made a mod for this yet?Cool

Sorry it has to be that way, you would think there would be a email notification built into dolphin already.

This issue has been driving me nuts!!!  If someone sends you a friend request, there is absolutely no "obvious" notification the next time you log into the site.  Yes, you can view it if you click on the small friends link at the bottom menu bar, or on your activity feed.  But it really needs to be more visible.  Members shouldn't be forced to hunt down if they have received any friend notifications.

Here are two mods that seem to address this issue:

I guess I was just wondering...am I missing something?  Why hasn't boonex included this?

I own other dating/social networking software that does not contain 1/10 of the features Dolphin does, but it does notify a member upon logging in of any new activity (mails, friends requests, views, etc.).  Why didn't boonex include this???????

No Signature at this time.

They do include a notification - the little red notification square on the member bar, but, I got to admit it's pretty insipid.

I personally could live with this BUT - you have to click on the damn thing twice to see the notification - once to clear down the notification icon and another time to view the menu to see the notifications themselves. I cannot see why there is a need to click on it at all - have Boonex not heard of the hover feature, it's an integral part of the internet.

It should work like this - Hover to display the menu (like 99.99% of menu's on the internet) and then click to acknowledge the message, or perhaps even automatically clear it.

This is a perfect case of an ill conceived half a job - The onmouseover event has been used to display the tool tip, whereas it should have been used to show the menu. This is particularly crappy, as there is not really any need for the tool tip at all - once you have hovered over it to show the menu, you can see what it does by reading the title at the top of it.

The idiocy of the devs here never ceases to amaze me.
