How are profile photos saved in DB?

I just had to restore a copy of my community's database.  I did a complete export then upload.  It looks like an exact copy except the member's uploaded profile pics are gone and replace with the default pics.  How are the photos saved in the database and why wouldn't they have been exported?

In database a part of name of images are stored.
