Membership types problem

Hiya everyone, please forgive me the noobie stupid questions.

We want our site to be FREE to all registered members but we want to restrict some functions to specific membership types and we should like to be able to 'promote' if you like members to the full access member group when they say they want to be an active member of the Church area of our site.

So we would have say:

Non Member

Standard

Church Member

How can we promote members to the Church Members without them having to actually pay anything?

We have set up a Church Member type but the ACP wants us to put in a fee for the membership type, can this be over come and can we manually promote members to that group.

Hi Rev. Fitzgerald,

You don't have to charge for different membership levels.  You can promote them from standard by the members section in the ACP - that is what I do.  Let us know if you have any questions.
