Security question: Enable user password level?

Is there a way to enable the user to password protect the users profile? My goal is to let the user choose how much information he wants to share with a) everybody b) friends. As soon as a profile is registered, it is right away public viewable for everybody. I want the user to be able to set e.g. a "view only" password level to enhance the security.

For blogs I found the option to protect the users blog area to share with a) everybody b) friends. A solution would be to have this option for the whole profile view page. A better solution would be a read only password to share with a restricted user group.

Any idea?

Thanks,

Dirk

No solutions? Really no way to password protect viewing the profile page?

Am I the only one concerning about data protection for the user?

Thanks,

Dirk
