The captcha image not appearing? I had something similar when I first installed Dolphin, even though I had both GD Library and ImageMagik present on my server set up. I went to the admin console, Settings -> Advanced Settings, and switched on and off the "Use GD library for image processing". After that, the captcha image appeared whether this setting was on or off. Not sure why.

If you want to remove it completely, presumably it can be disabled by going to the admin console, and under Builders   -> Field Builder, you can make the field inactive for the join form.
