blank install screen

I'm trying to install Dolphin on my server and when I run the ../install/index.php I get a blank screen. The following is found in the server error log

PHP Fatal error:  Call to undefined function mb_internal_encoding()  .../install/index.php on line 540

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Your server doesn't have mb_string support.

Ask your host to compile php with mb_string support.
