ffmpeg install error

I am getting the

lash/modules/global/app/ffmpeg.exe Non-Executable

error even after I have set chmod permissions to 777.  I am using an ftp program to do it, so I confirmed with a different ftp program that the server indeed has the correct permissions set for that file.  I then deleted it, checked the install script, then reuploaded it and set permissions accordingly and still it gives me that error.

Funny part is I installed this fine yesterday on the same server but decided to try a different domain on the server.  The install went fine and I was able to get in and start admin-ing it without an issue.

Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated.

Are you using a Linux server or a Windows server. If Windows, download the appropriate ffmpeg version. Or try CHMOD permission 775

Thanks for the response, the answer is I am on a Linux server.  I did try your suggestion of 775 with no change in the error message unfortunately.  I would like to reiterate that this server accepted an install yesterday of the script and I did not get this error.  I was hoping someone else may have muddled through a similar issue and could enlighten me on how they fixed it.

Thanks again Stuart, please feel free to throw out any other thoughts, I am open to any suggestions or ideas!

Folder permissions.... just a guess.

Re ffmpeg, is this the file that came with the standard D7.02 download? it might be an idea to re-upload this file (using binary transfer protocol).

I believe the D7.02 ffmpeg is an upgrade from the 7.01 version.

Thanks Stuart, I just talked to Rackspace Cloud Support Live, and he thinks it may be a cache issue (server reporting differently than the chmod changes) due to the fact that I had a previous install that I just deleted in the same folder.  I have had nothing but good luck with their support so I will delete the entire package tonight and attempt a new one tomorrow (plenty of time for the cache to clear and I will be more awake! :P)

Will let you know if that fixes it and thanks again for helping me troubleshoot.  It was appreciated.

You can clear your cache via FTP. You have two folders, Cache and cache_public. Leave the .htaccess file but delete everything else within that folder.

You do not need to reinstall everything!

I am still getting the error.  My host is Rackspace Cloud and they suggested that I would need to switch to a Cloud server to get ffmpeg support.  I am not in a position to do this and the RS Cloud is been the best hosting I have had for all my other projects.

After reading some great insight in this forum (by SkyForum) as to what ffmpeg is for, I can say I really won't be using audio or video on the site.  My main purpose is to provide a network for businesses to sell digital goods, blog and connect.  I am trying to keep this streamlined and too many bells and whistles will take away from my focus at this stage.  Is there anyway to bypass the ffmpeg portion of the install/permissions check or is this hard coded throughout the Dolphin system?

I have test driven tons of social networks but Dolphin is the only one that offers a solid blog/network/commerce system for my needs.

Any suggestions are welcome.  Thanks in advance.
