Cool Iris for dolphin... high tech browsing

Do you know about Cool Iris?

http://developer.cooliris.com/

The script of dolphin should be compatible with this new web browser plugin... this way user will be able to browse all the member photo or member video on a big virtual 3d wall!

cool iris demo

This plugin is free so it could be very interesting to add this free addon to dolphin...

so what do you think

This was discussed a while back by fidelg3

I voted neg on that post, but it didn't have anything to do with the content of the post or it's author. I just don't think that any enhancement to Dolphin photos should be dependant on a browser plugin.

It is a cool plugin, and I've tried it, but to me it seems a little awkward in the way it breaks up navigation. A very similar thing could be accomplished with a bit of javascript, that doesn't require a browser plugin.

Anyone that's read my see more posts around here, knows that I like to complain about the lack of a sensible implementation of photo albums in Dolphin. I'd rather see a well implemented photo album feature that doesn't need third party enhancements.

I think that the albums will be there in dolphin 7 not more than we have seen now in the alpha version.
I have read something from Aramis I mean, that the albums are not so heavvy als his mod for the gallery.
But let wait for the beta...

Killer, that strikes a nerve with me. I am frequently left with the impression that some Dolphin developers are more concerned with how a photo album feature will impact their mod sales, than properly implementing the feature in D7.

If D7 will take a mod to get a decent photo album implemented, I will drop this script in a second.

but the point is that the cooliris integration is only an addon... it will not modify or interact directly with the photo album... its just some coding to make the website using dolphin will be compatible with cooliris for THOSE who have installed the pluggin... for the other... they wont see any change... so i dont understand where the problem is houstonlively.....

I don't have a problem with cool iris at all. I just don't think it would be needed if a photo album feature was well implemented.

I worked on a site that used this. It is easy to implement. fidelg wrote about this same topic months ago. Good to see it back again.
