HELP! Dolphin Installer does not login to mysql database, HostForWeb asks for cash to install it!
Hello friends,
I have installed Dolphin 6.0.0003 few days ago
I have uploaded all files, all files have required permissions.
I have also created a database, and added a user into it with all privileges.
No matter what I do, dolphin gives an 'access denied' error during installation, after entering database information and basic configuration which will be written into the database.
I have worked about 4 hours just for this subject. I have created and deleted many databases and users, I still keep receiving the error.
Finally, I asked HostForWeb to create the database and the user with all privileges.
They should be experienced, they told they have recreated the database, but during installation, after configuration step, I received the same error message again.
I'm sure database name and user name and the password is correct.
I used localhost as hostname, left port name and socket path default.
And HostForWeb mannerlessly asked me to pay '60 dollars per hour' for installation. I didn't reply to their last post, as I was so angry that I would write a 'bad' reply worse than you may ever think.
I need help from Dolphin users who installed it on HFW servers. I have read the article on
http://www.boonex.com/trac/dolphin/wiki/DetailedInstall and I'm sure I did every step correctly, not only once, again and again.
Thanks,
Ali
Good luck

Host for Web is a Joke. But someone gets paid for sending them customers. and they are too big to care about 1 particular person.
Anyone is welcome to try other hosts though.
Installation with HFW is always pretty seamless, so you may need to look at something else that's going wrong.

I'm on hostforweb, both shared and VPS. If you go in your Cpanel down to the software box ( depending on the theme you have ) youll see an icon saying Site Software. In there you will be able to install Dolphin with a click and jsut entering in meanial info. Sucky part though is you can only enter it into a directory not root. But if you install it with this, you can move all the files over to root in FTP. Then goto /inc directory and change the path located in header.inc.php ...this should see more
